CROE to Fit Its Scrubbers with Oberlin Filters

CR OCEAN ENGINEERING L.L.C. (CROE) and Oberlin Filter Company are partnering to provide an automatic, low-maintenance washwater filtration system to supplement CROE’s closed loop and hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems (also known as scrubbers). BWMS with Automatic Filter Receives USCG Certificate

Technology enterprise Boll & Kirch said one of its product innovations, the Bollfilter Automatic Type 6.18.3, recently helped SunRui Marine Environment Engineering, based in Qingdao, China, qualify for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) certificate. Since the beginning of 2016, ballast water management systems (BWMS) of ships discharging ballast water at American ports have had to comply with special USCG regulations. SunRui's BalClor BWMS system, which relies on Boll & Kirch's innovative ballast water filtration technology, has now been certified by the authority.

First Offshore Reference for ACO's New Clarimar MF

ACO Marine announced it has signed a contract to supply a bespoke version of its new Clarimar MF wastewater treatment plant to the CFT 623 wellhead platform under construction for Dubai’s Dragon Oil. The specially adapted Clarimar MF-2 has capacity to treat 3.5 cubic meters of black and grey wastewater per day and features a sludge tank for liquid discharges from drilling operations. “The offshore oil and gas sector is an important market for ACO Marine,” said ACO Marine’s managing director Mark Beavis.

ACO Unveils New Plant for Upcoming Wastewater Rules

ACO Marine, a supplier of advanced wastewater treatment systems, is about to introduce a new version of its established Maripur wastewater treatment range. The next generation ACO Maripur NF sewage treatment system has been specifically developed to ensure operators of specialist tonnage in the passenger and mega-yacht sectors comply with the impending IMO Resolution MEPC 227(64) – including Section 4.2. This requires vessels with 12 or more passengers operating in IMO designated ‘Special Areas’ to effectively treat also Phosphorous and Total Nitrogens.

James Fisher Renewables conducted an innovative trial of Ship-to-Turbine (STT), an oil change system set to significantly improve safety, efficiency and reduce down time in offshore wind turbine gearbox oil changes. James Fisher Renewables reports that it has successfully trialed an innovative oil transfer system for the direct extraction and refill of offshore wind gearbox oils from a conventional access vessel, a trial performed on an offshore wind farm off the Norfolk coast.

OceanSaver Announces Highest Sales Figures to Date

The Norwegian firm OceanSaver, a provider of ballast water treatment (BWT) systems for medium and large vessels, has just marked its 10th birthday with the news that 2013 will be its best ever year for sales. CEO Houtan Houshangi has revealed that the company has secured over 50 orders for its modular Mark II system in 2013, spanning a diverse array of shipping segments. This pushes the number of systems on OceanSaver’s order book above the 100 threshold, with 30 units already installed. OceanSaver’s system, which was recently awarded U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) AMS approval, has found favor with owners and operators in key segments such as gas carriers, bulk vessels and VLCCs, to name a few. Recent contracts include system orders for LNG and LPG carriers.

Polymers Avert Pollution Threat

Among the more compelling news photos published following the landfall of Hurricane Sandy was that of the 184' tanker John B. Caddell run aground onto a Staten Island street by tidal flooding. That the tanker required heavy lifting to return it to sea was only part of the problem. A layer of bunker fuel shrouded the vessel's flooded engine room, creating a contaminated work area. C.I.Agent Solutions assisted with remediation so salvage work could move forward. C.I.Agent Solutions' solidifying polymer granules and EVAC Filtration System were used to help clean the contaminated engine room.

BWT – Amiad to Supply Disc Filtration to Calgon Carbon

Amiad signs supply agreement with Calgon Carbon Corp. OceanSaver BWT Chosen for VLCC Newbuildings

Chinese Shipyard orders next generation ballast water treatment system by OceanSaver. Rongsheng Shipbuilding Heavy Industries, a large heavy industries shipbuilding group in China, has chosen Mark II, OceanSaver’s next generation ballast water treatment system, for two 317.000 dwt VLCC newbuildings. The contract comes just weeks after DNV type approval, certifying Mark II to fully meet the requirements of the International Ballast Water Convention, and previous system orders placed by Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (China) and SPP Shipyard (Korea) for two suezmax and four bulk vessels.

OceanSaver BWT Technology Receives Type Approval
