Resolve Fire and Salvage signed an agreement with Fire Department New York (FDNY) last week, allowing the vast resources of the FDNY to be included in Resolve’s network of first responders that are available to vessel owners and operators, under the OPA90 Salvage & Marine Firefighting (SMFF) requirements. “FDNY has an excellent marine division that already responds first to marine incidents. This agreement simply formalizes FDNY’s role in the Vessel Response Plan (VRP), as a fellow marine firefighting responder, under the OPA90 SMFF regulations.

Medina International Holdings, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: MIHI) has received an order for a Firehawk 2426 fire rescue boat from the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department, New York, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Harbor Guard Boats, Inc. Daniel Medina, President of Medina International Holdings, Inc.  said, "This boat will be used for fire suppression, dive and rescue purposes on the Hudson River.  This is the third Firehawk order from the New York capital region and is becoming a primary choice for fire rescue and dive teams."

A team of Coast Guard investigators and inspectors was on scene at the Staten Island Ferry terminal after a ferry struck the pier around 9:30 a.m. on May 8. The ferry boat Andrew J. Barberi reportedly lost propulsion and struck the pier, resulting in serious damage to the facility's ramps and the main decks of the boat above the waterline. There were 252 passengers and 18 crew members onboard at the time of incident. There have been reports of minor injuries. There have been no reports of pollution. A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station New York was also on scene after the incident. The New York Port Authority prepared to move the ferry to a different slip while the investigation is being conducted.
