Pertamina Delivers First LNG Cargo to Nusantara FSRU
Indonesia's government controlled PT Pertamina said that the first LNG cargo produced with the gas sourced at the field has been delivered to the Nusantara Regas’ Nusantara FSRU in the Jakarta Bay. The shipment is the first LNG cargo since the official PHM became the operator of the Mahakam block as of January 1, 2018. The LNG gas cargo of 2 million per million british thermal units (MMBTU) is delivered to Nusantara Regas One's floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) in Jakarta Bay. The LNG Carrier Aquarius ship carried the LNG gas cargo on Thursday, (4/1).
Govt Approves Yamal LNG Train
OAO Yamal LNG was granted State permission to commission the main technological facilities of the LNG plant’s first stage, including the first liquefaction train, 58 gas wells and the respective infrastructure. Port of Rotterdam: 2017 in Review
Over the past year, 29,646 seagoing vessels entered the port of Rotterdam, up more than 600 from 2016's 29,022. The number of incidents in the port fell from 159 to 129, and included one ‘serious accident’ involving an inland vessel that went adrift after hitting a groyne with its rudder. Sinopec Tianjin Terminal to Receive First LNG Cargo
China Sinopec's new Tianjin terminal will receive first LNG cargo of 30,000-35,000 tonnes from Australia on Jan. 10, a source with the direct knowledge of the project said. Sinopec Tianjin terminal will start LNG sales at end of January, the source said. The Tianjin LNG project has the capacity to receive 3 million tonnes of LNG per year. NYK Line received award sponsored by the Japan Federation of Freight Industries (JFFI) recognizing the environmental load reduction achieved by Japan's first LNG-fueled tugboat, Sakigake. Energy Storage System Ordered for LNG Battery Hybrid Ferry
Corvus Energy, Siemens AS and Fjord1 have announced the award of the contract for the Fannefjord LNG hybrid ferry. The refit Fannefjord will use a 1,050V, 410kWh Energy Storage System (ESS) consisting of 63 Corvus Energy AT6500 advanced lithium polymer batteries. The ESS will be integrated with the existing Siemens drive systems and be powered by two LNG generators. The 123m Fannefjord, sister ship to the vessel Moldefjord (who won the 2010 Green Ship of the Year), has a capacity of 390 passengers and 125 cars or 12 road trailers and 55 cars.
LNG Import Terminal Opens in Pakistan
On March 28, 2015, officials from Engro Corporation, Excelerate Energy and the Government of Pakistan were present for the inauguration of Pakistan's first LNG import terminal in Port Qasim. Located in a channel of the Indus River east of Karachi, the terminal is a result of a fast-track LNG import solution built to alleviate the energy shortage facing the country, and was brought into service 11 months from the start of construction. Utilizing Excelerate's floating storage and regasification vessel (FSRU), the Exquisite, the facility has the capacity to deliver up to 690 MMcf/d of natural gas directly to Sui Southern Gas Company's natural gas pipeline system. As part of the commissioning process, Exquisite loaded its first LNG cargo in Ras Laffan, Qatar, on March 24, 2015.

Construction Set to Start on Jacksonville LNG Facility
JAX LNG said it has executed the remaining engineering and procurement contracts required to begin construction of a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction and storage facility at Dames Point near the Port of Jacksonville. The JAX LNG liquefaction facility is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2017. Once completed, it will be outfitted with a 2 million-gallon storage tank with the capacity to produce in excess of 120,000 gallons of LNG per day. JAX LNG’s Jacksonville plant will be North America’s first small-scale coastal LNG facility and will include marine distribution capabilities utilizing North America’s first LNG bunker barge, Clean Jacksonville. “The LNG industry is seeing a steady growth in demand,” said Tim Hermann, president of Pivotal LNG.
Industrial Action likely on Curtis Island, Australia
Following BG Group’s second quarter results announcement on Thursday 31 July, the company updates that late yesterday the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) – one of the four unions representing workers at the QCLNG plant on Curtis island, Queensland, Australia – has given notice to Bechtel of its intent to take protected industrial action on Thursday 7th August. BG Group is not aware of the scope or duration of this proposed industrial action from this particular union body.
LNG FPSO Ordered
Höegh LNG announced that it has entered into agreements with major contractors and formally started the engineering and design for its first LNG FPSO Unit (Floating Production Storage and Offloading), with the objective to design and construct the worlds’ first LNG FPSO. “Our strategy is to develop Höegh LNG’s business model from pure LNG transportation into offering also solutions for LNG production and floating regasification terminals”, says Sveinung Støhle, President and CEO of Höegh LNG AS. The proposed project will consist of a ship shaped offshore classed structure with the capacity to treat and liquefy a well stream of approx 2.5 billion cubic meters pr. year, which will give an annual production of approx 1.6 million tons of LNG and approx 0.5 million tons of LPG.
LNG Carrier and Largest Container Ship Delivered
April 3 marked another milestone in the rapid development of Chinese shipbuilding capacity as, at separate ceremonies, two of the nation’s shipbuilders delivered the first LNG carrier to be built in and the largest containership to emerge from a Chinese shipyard. Both of these historic first shipbuilding projects were completed to ABS class standards. Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard delivered the 147,000 m3 LNG carrier Dapeng Sun to China LNG Shipping (International) Ltd for service between ’s North West Shelf and ’s first LNG receiving terminal in . It is the first of a five ship series that are being dual classed by ABS and China Classification Society (CCS). Keel laying for the first ship took place in June 2005.
Sinopec Rolls Out Beihai LNG-import Terminal
China Petroleum and Chemical Corp (Sinopec) has taken delivery of the first LNG cargo at its new terminal at Beihai City in Guangxi Zhuang, with the arrival yesterday of the LNG carrier Methane Spirit, delivering a cargo from ConocoPhillips-operated Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG)project in Australia. Hyundai Heavy Wins Orders Worth $1.1 Billion
Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s biggest shipbuilder, today announced the Company had won orders for 4 liquefied natural gas carriers and 1 LNG floating storage regasification unit worth USD 1.1 billion. Hyundai Heavy won orders to build two 162,000 cbm LNG carriers for Golar LNG of Norway on February 10 and two same-class ships for an unnamed European shipowner on February 8. The contract with Golar LNG includes an option exercisable by the Norwegian company for two additional same-class LNG carriers.
BV & Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering
Bureau Veritas is supporting the adoption of clean fuel LNG through the classification of both vessels in the world’s first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation between two independent ocean-going vessels. On September 3 2016, Terntank Rederi’s M/T Ternsund bunkered LNG from Coral Energy, a Dutch small scale LNG vessel owned by Antony Veder and chartered by Skangas. The operation was carried out at the entrance to the port of Gothenburg. The 15,000 dwt Ternsund is the world’s first LNG-fuelled newbuilding oil/chemical tanker.
LNG America Selects ABS for LNG Bunker Barges
LNG America announces the selection of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as the classification society for North America’s first LNG bunker barges, currently being designed by Jensen Maritime. ABS will assist LNG America in working with shipbuilders and regulators in developing these first-of-their-kind barges that meet or exceed all technical and regulatory requirements. “We are pleased to be working with ABS on this important domestic initiative. First LNG Loaded from QCLNG Project in Australia
BG Group began loading the first cargo of LNG from its Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) facility to the vessel Methane Rita Andrea December 28. The second cargo of LNG from the facility will be loaded onto the Methane Mickie Harper, which is expected in Gladstone in the first week of January. QCLNG is the world's first LNG project to be supplied by coal seam gas. The start of production from the plant's first LNG train is the result of more than four years of development and construction on Curtis Island.

LR Wins Landmark LNG Deal
Lloyd’s Register has won the classification contract for four 155,000 cu-m Technigaz Mk III membrane-type LNG carriers, ordered by BP Shipping at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) with a further four options. These ships are the largest LNG carriers ordered to date. The ships are also noteworthy in that they will have dual fuel diesel electric propulsion and will be the first LNG ships with this type of propulsion to be built in Korea. Only a handful of LNG carriers in the world feature this form of propulsion, with most owners and operators opting for steam turbines. The last of the first four ships will be built at Hyundai’s Samho yard, representing this particular yard’s first LNG carrier.
Denmark Slated to Get Its First LNG Ferry
Contracts for building the first LNG-fuelled ferry for domestic Danish trade have now been signed, a representing milestone as the ship will be the first LNG-fuelled ferry designed for domestic trade in the EU. October 1, 2014 is the date set for the ferry’s first journey between the island of Samsø and Jutland on the Danish mainland. The new ferry can carry a maximum of 600 passengers and 160 cars. Danish OSK-ShipTech A/S designed the new ferry and has also conducted the EU tender process on behalf of Samsø Municipality.
