Maersk to Install Inmarsat's Entertainment Service

The leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, today announced that Maersk Tankers, the owner and operator of one of the world’s largest fleets of product tankers, has chosen to install Inmarsat’s Fleet Media maritime entertainment service on 30 of its vessels as part of a pilot scheme. Maersk Tankers Head of Vessel IT, Henning Madsen, said “We have chosen to install the new Fleet Media service as we wish to provide our employees with an entertainment system which is up-to-date, with the most recent content and frequently refreshed. Fleet Media is an innovative maritime entertainment solution, which uses Inmarsat’s satellite connectivity to download the latest in Hollywood movies, international films, sports and TV shows to merchant vessels anywhere in the world.

Inmarsat, KVH Industries Sign Reciprocal Distribution Agreement

Inmarsat and KVH Industries, Inc., today announced the signing of a reciprocal distribution agreement with immediate effect. Under the agreement, KVH becomes a non-exclusive, global distributor of Inmarsat’s Fleet One and FleetBroadband services, and Inmarsat becomes a non-exclusive distributor across all vessel types for KVH’s VideotelTM Basic Training Package, as well as for its NEWSlinkTM newspapers within the leisure and non-passenger merchant vessel segments, which will be offered as enhancements to Inmarsat’s Fleet Media service. * Fleet One, delivered through a small, light-weight terminal, is a cost-effective voice and data service that has been specifically configured to be accessible and affordable for small vessels.

Entertainment on the High Seas

Those on commercial shipping vessels will no longer have to wait until they reach dry land to catch-up on the latest films, sports and news as Inmarsat (LSE:ISAT.L), the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, has today launched its latest service, Fleet Media, which will bring the most recent viewing content to those at sea. A ground-breaking agreement with NT Digital Partners, a joint venture between global content agency Spafax and the world’s largest non-theatrical distributor Swank Motion Pictures Inc., has enabled Inmarsat Maritime to bring Hollywood to the high seas with its innovative Fleet Media service.
