OSM & Forland Shipping Extend Cooperation

OSM has announced that Norwegian operator of offshore construction vessels (OCV), Forland Shipping of Bergen, has awarded the company full technical management of their two OCV’s, Fugro Saltire and Lewek Inspector. OSM already provides the crew to the vessels. Says Forland Shipping’s managing director, Bjørn Kristian Jæger: “Being a small shipping company operating in a very challenging market, we have to minimalize our operational cost, at the same time as we sustain the traditionally high performance of our vessels.

Havyard Deck Machinery Contract for NDM

NDM (Norwegian Deck Machinery) contracted by Havyard Ship Techology in Leirvik to deliver winches for a Forland Shipping offshore vessel newbuilding The contract is for the delivery of the following equipment:     •    One (1) combined windlass/mooring winch     •    Two (2) mooring winches     •    Four (4) capstans     •    Two (2) tugger winches All winches are electrically driven and will be delivered to the shipyard in March 2013 NDM specializes in the manufacture of deck macninery designed for operation in cold, harsh environments.

Forland Selects Kongsberg Evotec ROV System

New systems enhances ROV handling capabilities. Kongsberg Evotec, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, has been selected to supply its sophisticated new Launch and Recovery System (E-LARS) for Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), for installation on a new Forland Shipping AS subsea vessel currently under construction at Havyard Leirvik, Norway. The Kongsberg Evotec’s E-LARS installation for Forland Shipping’s new 110 meters long, 22 meters wide subsea vessel, which is due for delivery in 2013, consists of both an ‘overboard’ system and a ‘moon pool’ system. The system is designed to handle work class ROVs with or without a Tether Management System (TMS) to depths below 4000m.
