Kidnapped Bourbon Crew Released

Bourbon announces that its 10 crew members kidnapped in Cameroon on 31st October on board the Bourbon Sagitta were released on Nov. 11. They are now safe in Yaoundé. After medical check-ups, all of them appear to be in good health. Bourbon wishes to thank everyone who has contributed to the successful outcome of this affair for their support and efforts, and in particular the local Cameroonian authorities, as well as the French Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs. The two Cameroonian crew members will be joining up with their families and friends very soon. The other eight crew members, seven French and one Tunisian, will be returning to France rapidly, where they too will be reunited with their families and friends. Nov.

Bourbon Speaks to Captive Crew

Tuesday, November 4, 2008, Bourbon received a phone call during which the company was able to speak with the Captain and Chief Mate of the Bourbon Sagitta. The 2 officers confirmed that the 10 crew members are all together, in good health and well treated. Bourbon immediately contacted the families to keep them informed. The Emergency Unit, put in place immediately by Bourbon on 31st October, continues to work closely with the French Ministry of Foreign and European affairs, the Tunisian authorities and the local Cameroonian authorities. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs reminds everyone that in the circumstances, the utmost discretion is necessary in order for any action taken to be efficient. Bourbon will continue to disclose any new information when available and verified.

Bourbon Sagitta Crew Kidnapped

On October 31, at about 12:00 a.m., a number of armed men in 3 fly boats, boarded the Bourbon Sagitta, an Anchor Handling Tug Support vessel assisting loading operations of crude oil from a field off the Bakasi Peninsula (180 kms from Douala). 10 of the 15 crew members (2 Cameroonians, 1 Tunisian, 1 Senegalese and 6 French seamen) were kidnapped. No one was injured. The ship and the staff still on board are now safe. An Emergency Unit was immediately put together by Bourbon who is working closely with the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs…
