Novatek Launches Arcticgas

Russia's second-largest natural gas producer Novatek announced that Arcticgas, a joint venture between Novatek and PAO Gazprom Neft, commenced commercial production at the East-Urengoyskoye+North-Esetinskoye field within the Samburgskiy license area.It has an estimated annual production capacity of more than one (1) billion cubic meters of natural gas and 0.2 million tons of gas condensate. Aker Arctic's Icebreaking Ships Busy

Finnish engineering company Aker Arctic Technology Oy said that its Arctic condensate tanker Boris Sokolov has now been transporting gas condensate from Sabetta to various ports in Europe for more than half a year.Last spring, Aker Arctic’s expedition team carried out full-scale ice trials on the vessel based on our Aker ARC 212 design.In order to evaluate the performance of the vessel, the fully-laden Boris Sokolov deviated from her regular route and headed towards the Siberian coast to seek ice conditions that were closer to the tanker’s maximum independent icebreaking capability.

Sovcomflot Wins VEB Funds for LNG-Fueled MR Tankers

Sovcomflot, a Russian maritime shipping company specializing in petroleum and LNG shipping,  and VEB.RF Group announced the signing of agreements whereby VEB Leasing will finance the construction of three new LNG-fuelled MR tankers.Sovcomflot initially placed the order for these three tankers with the Zvezda Shipyard (Primorsky region) on 28 December 2018. Novatek Production Rose 6.9% in 2018

Sovcomflot Orders Three LNG-fueled Tankers from Zvezda Shipyard

On December 28, 2018, Sovcomflot (SCF Group) placed an order at Zvezda shipbuilding complex for construction of three new generation product carriers that use cleaner-burning LNG fuel as their primary fuel.Three MR-class vessels will have a deadweight (DWT) of 51,000 tonnes each. They will transport petroleum products and gas condensate and will be chartered to Novatek under long-term time charter agreements. Each tanker will have an ice class of 1B, enabling safe operations in areas with challenging ice conditions, including the Baltic.Using LNG fuel enables to significantly reduce emissions.

Novatek, Sovcomflot Pact for LNG Shipping from Yamal LNG

Leonid Mikhelson, Chairman of the Management Board of PAO Novatek and Sergey Frank, General Director of PAO Sovcomflot have signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement on developing a strategic partnership to transport hydrocarbons (LNG and gas condensate) produced at Yamal LNG, Arctic LNG 2 and other Arctic projects of the Company. “Our unique partnership with Sovcomflot will optimize our LNG transport model through the Arctic zone by efficiently and effectively using ice-class tankers” according to Novatek's Chairman of Management Board Leonid Mikhelson.

Kirby Closes Acquisition of Higman Marine

Kirby Corporation has announced the completion of the acquisition of Higman Marine, Inc. and its affiliated companies (“Higman”), an operator of tank barges and towboats participating in the inland tank barge transportation industry in the United States. The total value of the transaction was approximately $419 million in cash before post-closing adjustments and transaction fees. issuance of senior notes, which closed on February 12, 2018. The new senior notes provided for $500 million in fixed rate debt at 4.2% with a 10-year maturity on March 1, 2028.

Trelleborg’s marine systems operation has supplied a suite of products to Shell’s Prelude FLNG facility, the largest offshore facility ever constructed. Qatar to Boost LNG Production by 30% Amid Arab Dispute

State-owned Qatar Petroleum said Tuesday it aims to raise Qatar’s LNG production from 77 million to 100 million tons per year. Valmet to Supply Automation for Icebreaking Tanker

Valmet said it has been awarded a contract to supply automation for an arctic icebreaking tanker to be built by Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Inc. in Finland. The tanker (NB 515) is designed by Arctech and measures 229 m in length and 32.5 m in breadth. It will be built to ice class of Arc 7 and can reliably break ice almost two meters thick. The vessel will be tasked with transporting gas condensate year-round from the Yamal Peninsula to Europe and Asia, able to operate independently in the demanding ice conditions of the Northern Sea Route.

Russia Ramping Up Arctic LNG Production

Russia may produce more than 70 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year in its remote Arctic regions, the head of gas producer Novatek said on Wednesday. Barge Breakaway on Ohio River

The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to a report of a barge breakaway at the Racine Lock and Dam on the Ohio River near Huntington, W.Va., Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley received a report that UTV Austin C. Settoon, pushing three barges loaded with approximately 3,780,000 gallons of natural gas condensate, allided with the lock wall at approximately 5:30 a.m. The barges subsequently broke away. One barge is contained in the lock while the remaining two barges are pinned against gates seven and eight of the dam, with the vessel pinned against gates six and seven. The Racine Lock and Dam is closed, creating a queue of 13 upbound vessels and 11 downbound vessels.

Sovcomflot tankers Move one mi tonnes oil from Novy Port O&G condensate field

Sovcomflot’s three unique Arctic shuttle tankers, of the Shturman Albanov series, have now transported one million tonnes of crude oil produced at the Novy Port oil and gas condensate field, from the Gulf of Ob (Kara Sea) to the port of Murmansk. The milestone millionth tonne cargo of oil was loaded on Shturman Albanov on 29 January 2017 at the Arctic Gate marine terminal located near Cape Kamenny (Gulf of Ob). In total, SCF tankers have completed 33 voyages with Novy Port grade oil since last autumn.

Iran's Crude Oil Exports above 2.1 Mln BPD in July

Iran's crude oil exports in July were more than 2.1 million barrels per day, the oil ministry's news agency SHANA cited a senior Iranian oil official as saying on Wednesday. Director of the International Affairs Department at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Mohsen Ghamsari told SHANA the total amount of crude and gas condensate exports by Iran reached 2.740 million bpd in July. He said 600,000 bpd out of that figure were condensate exports. "Exports of crude are now at a good level but ... have not yet touched that of the pre-sanction level," he said, adding that Iran used to export 2.350 million barrels of crude per day before international sanctions were imposed.

DNV GL Wins Verification Work for Wintershall

DNV GL has been awarded a 5 year contract to provide in-service verification work for Wintershall Noordzee B.V.’s (WINZ) RAVN and A6-A platforms. The two platforms based in the North Sea are the unmanned RAVN in the Danish sector and manned A6-A in the German sector. RAVN is the first field in Denmark that Wintershall  Noordzee will transition to the production phase as operator. The A6-A platform is undergoing a major overhaul, with WINZ extending it to include an oil processing plant alongside the current gas condensate facilities.

ExxonMobil Starts Production at Point Thomson

ExxonMobil said today it has started production at its Point Thomson project, the first company-operated project on Alaska’s North Slope. Central pad facilities are designed to initially produce about 5,000 barrels per day of condensate and 100 million standard cubic feet per day of recycled gas. The recycled gas is re-injected for future recovery. At full rate production, the facility is designed to produce up to 10,000 barrels per day of natural gas condensate and 200 million cubic feet of recycled gas. It is anticipated to reach that level when the west pad well is online in a few months.

Russia Sets Oil Production Record for 2015

Against the backdrop of a sharp drop in oil prices sharply increased their exports, Russia has set a new record for oil production in 2015. This is a new record for oil production (including gas condensate) - 534 081 000 tons, which is 1.4% higher than in 2014, reports "Interfax" referring to the data of the Central Supervisory Control fuel and energy complex. The leader was the company "Bashneft". Others are "Gazprom Neft", "Surgutneftegaz" and reduced "Rosneft", "Lukoil" and "Slavneft".
