Yamal LNG Gets All 15 Arc7 Ice-Class Tankers

Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Yamal LNG  announced the operational start of the new Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker “Yakov Gakkel”,  the fifteenth and final Arc7 ice-class tanker built specifically for the Project.The Yakov Gakkel has loaded the 354th LNG cargo in the port of Sabetta bound to China, said a press note.The vessel was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and is owned and operated by a 50-50 joint venture by Teekay LNG and China LNG Shipping. Yamal LNG Exceeds Nameplate Capacity

Yamal LNG, a liquefied natural gas plant located in Sabetta at the north-east of the Yamal Peninsula, Russia, announced that since the beginning of 2019, the LNG plant produced more than 16.5 million tons of LNG.The Project exceeded its annual nameplate production capacity during the first eleven months of the year, when all three LNG trains were in operation, as the third LNG train was launched at the end of 2018.Yamal LNG has reached 25 million tons of LNG shipped since the start-up of Train 1 in December 2017, and has cumulatively dispatched more than 340 cargos.Yamal LNG is constructing a 17.4 mtpa natural gas liquefaction plant comprised of three LNG trains of 5.5 mtpa each and one LNG train of 900 thousand tons per annum…

Yamal LNG Shipped 10MT

Yamal LNG, a joint venture liquefied natural gas (LNG) production project in Sabetta, Russia, has shipped its ten millionth ton of LNG since the commencement of the project.The 136th cargo offloaded onto the Arc7 ice-class tanker “Vladimir Vize” reached 10 million tons of LNG produced since the start-up of Train 1 in December 2017.Yamal LNG is constructing a 17.4 mtpa natural gas liquefaction plant comprised of three LNG trains of 5.5 mtpa each and one LNG train of 900 thousand tons per annum, utilizing the hydrocarbon resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field in the Russian Arctic.The first LNG Train began production in Q4 2017 and Trains 2 and 3 — in July 2018 and November 2018, respectively.

Arctic LNG 2, Siemens Sign Deal

Russian gas producer Novatek said that it had signed a deal with German tech giant Siemens to buy compressors for its new Arctic LNG 2 natural gas liquefaction plant.Novatek's second LNG export facility after Yamal LNG, the 19.8 million mt/year Arctic LNG-2 project is moving closer to the reality after this deal.The scope of supply under the contract includes three feed gas compressors and six boil-off gas compressors. Challenge Peak Ships 1st Plant Condensate from Ichthys LNG Project

The oil products tanker operated by Singapore-based NYK Bulkship (Asia) Challenge Peak  has shipped the first batch of plant condensate produced at the onshore gas liquefaction plant of the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project.According to a press release from the Japanese shipping and logistics company NYK (Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha), the condensate was loaded from the gas liquefaction plant in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia, and the vessel departed for an Asian country on December 26.A joint venture among INPEX (the operator), oil major Total, and others, the Ichthys LNG Project is one of the largest LNG projects in the world…

Yamal LNG Fills-up 100th Tanker

Novatek’s Yamal LNG plant in the Russian Arctic has shipped its 100th tanker-load – bringing the total volumes shipped by the plant to 7.4 mt since it entered operations in December 2017.The ice-class Arc7 LNG carrier Fedor Litke was the 100th tanker to be loaded with LNG, the company reported. Govt Approves Yamal LNG Train

OAO Yamal LNG was granted State permission to commission the main technological facilities of the LNG plant’s first stage, including the first liquefaction train, 58 gas wells and the respective infrastructure. Evgeniy Kot, General Director, Yamal LNG, stated: “Obtaining permission to commission the first LNG train is the cumulative result of many months of hard work and dedication by thousands of construction workers, installers, and engineers who have worked and continue to work in Sabetta. We not only maintained our strict project deadlines, but we also expect to launch the second and third LNG trains ahead of schedule”. The design capacity of the first LNG train is 5.5 million tons per annum. Yamal LNG plans to begin shipping LNG before the end of 2017.

Novatek Says No Need to Borrow More for Yamal LNG Project

Russia's largest private gas producer Novatek has no need to increase borrowing as it has sufficient funds for investments into its Yamal LNG project, the company's management said on Wednesday. At a conference call with analysts, Novatek's chief executive Leonid Mikhelson said his company has already invested $22 billion in Yamal LNG after securing borrowing on both global and domestic markets. He said Yamal LNG, a project to build Russia's second gas liquefaction plant, will receive another $6 billion in investment this year. Novatek's chief financial officer Mark Gyetvay, who was on the same call, said that the overall capital investment of Novatek is seen at 40 billion roubles ($689.42 million) in 2017.     (Reporting by Denis Pinchuk; Writing by Andrey Ostroukh)

Peru Workers Plan Strike That Could Disrupt LNG Exports

Natural gas workers in Peru plan to hold an indefinite strike starting Dec. 29 that would disrupt production of the widely-used fuel as well as Royal Dutch Shell Plc's liquefied natural gas exports, the union SUTRAPPEC said Thursday. Some 200 unionized workers needed to operate Peru's Camisea gas fields will down tools to press Argentine energy company Pluspetrol to offer better wages and benefits in a new labor agreement, said SUTRAPPEC spokesman Juan Carlos Vargas. Pluspetrol owns a controlling stake - 27.2 percent - in the Camisea consortium that produces the vast majority of Peru's natural gas from a remote jungle region. Pluspetrol and Netherlands-based Shell, which exports liquefied natural gas derived from Camisea gas production, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

NuBlu: LNG Fueling Station in the GOM

NuBlu Energy has begun the construction of a natural gas liquefaction plant in Port Allen, LA, strategically located along the Mississippi River. NuBlu’s facility will support the region’s high-horsepower fueling applications such as rail, marine, long haul transportation, power generation, gas interruption, asphalt and other energy markets. The facility is slated to be operational and producing high-quality liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the second quarter of 2017. Crowley Selects Fuel Supplier for LNG Containerships

Crowley Puerto Rico Services, Inc. has selected Eagle LNG Partners as the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-supplier for the company’s new LNG-powered, Commitment Class ships, which will be delivered in 2017 for use in the U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico trade. To support Crowley’s LNG needs, Eagle LNG will build a natural gas liquefaction plant (LNG plant) offering a capacity of 200,000 gallons per day (87,000 gallons per day initially) in Jacksonville. The state-of-the-art facility is slated to be operational by early 2017.

Floating LNG Plant Proposed for Saanich Inlet

The Malahat First Nations and Steelhead LNG plan for a floating natural gas liquefaction plant proposed for the waters of the Saanich Inlet. The Mill Bay-based Malahat First Nation and Vancouver-based Steelhead LNG have entered into a partnership - to be known as Malahat LNG  - to develop an liquefied natural gas facility in Bamberton, about 40 kilometres north of Victoria, B.C. The floating plant would be moored to the shoreline of the Malahat-owned land formerly known as Bramberton, and would be expected to generate revenue for 30 years, according to Steelhead. Representatives of the partnership made the announcement of a mutual benefits agreement and a long-term lease.

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) signed a cooperation agreement with the Port of Lake Charles in Louisiana earlier this week, which aims to attract new customers from the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry; a strategy that builds upon the advantages that the expanded Canal will offer. Currently, LNG vessels cannot transit through the waterway due to their beam dimensions, which are too wide to fit the existing locks. Alaska LNG Project Chooses Terminal Location

ExxonMobil , BP, ConocoPhillips and TransCanada have selected a site in the Nikiski area on the Kenai Peninsula as the lead site for the proposed Alaska LNG project’s natural gas liquefaction plant and terminal. The consortium states that more than 20 locations were evaluated based on conditions related to the environment, socioeconomics, cost, and other project and technical issues. “This is a step forward for the Alaska LNG project and shows continued progress toward building Alaska’s energy future,” said Steve Butt, senior project manager.

Trellborg Supplies Fenders to Australian Developments

Trelleborg Marine Systems has been awarded three contracts to supply fender systems to all three liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects on Queensland’s Curtis Island, Australia. Having already been awarded the contracts to supply docking and mooring equipment and monitoring software earlier in the year, Trelleborg has now been chosen to supply the Queensland Curtis LNG, Gladstone LNG and Australia Pacific LNG projects with SCN Super Cone and ANP Arch Fender Systems. Queensland Curtis LNG is the world's first project to turn coal seam gas into LNG, Trellborg said.

WESMAR’s Commercial Bow Thrusters Part of Huge Australian LNG Project

Six of WESMAR’s 180KW AC V2-34 (250) HP) Bow Thruster systems lined up for shipment were shipped for installation on Australian Ropax vessels to help maneuver around pilings and docks.

WESMAR has shipped six of its large commercial bow thrusters for installation on three, 80-meter Ropax (Ro-Ro) vessels that will be working on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project of historic proportion in Australia. The vessels are part of the Curtis Island LNG project and will be working off Gladstone near Curtis Island. The order is from Ultimate Marine Power, WESMAR’s dealer along the Australian East Coast. According to the Owner/Director of that company, Dave Murray, two each of the six WESMAR 180 KW AC V2-34 (250 HP) Bow Thruster systems will be installed on each Ropax vessel.

GL Noble Denton wins LNG Project Deal

QGC, a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer, has selected GL Noble Denton to provide verification services for the development of the Queensland Curtis Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, which is expected to supply more than 8.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum through the development of two LNG trains. GL Noble Denton's experts will oversee the pipeline construction portion of the project over a two-year period. The company will supply inspection services for the installation of the 540 kilometre underground line between natural gas fields in Australia's Surat Basin and a natural gas liquefaction plant on Curtis Island near Gladstone on Queensland's coast.

RINA Publishes Gas Fuel Notation

Genoa-based verification, certification and ship classification group RINA has published a new notation GAS FUELLED SHIPS which establishes requirements for the use of liquefied or compressed natural gas (LNG or CNG) on board ship as an alternative to traditional fuels. It is designed to  give the industry a regulatory tool to ensure that the arrangement and installation on board of machinery using this type of fuel are such as to provide a level of integrity, from the point of view of safety and reliability, equivalent to that of a conventional installation. MAN Dual-Fuel Engines Power Castillo de Santisteban

STX Offshore & Shipbuilding, the South Korean shipbuilder, recently delivered the Castillo de Santisteban to Empresa Naviera Elcano, the globally active Spanish shipping group. Five MAN dual-fuel 8L51/60DF engines will power the 984-ft long LNG carrier with each delivering 8,000 kW at 514 rpm. The newbuilding has been assigned by her charterer, Spanish energy company Repsol – Gas Natural LNG (Stream), to the Peruvian Camisea/Pampa Melchorita gas project, the first natural-gas liquefaction plant in South America. The carrier has a carrying capacity of 173,600 m3 LNG.
