LNG Carrier Elisa Aquila for Edison Delivered

NYK Acquires Gazocean

On October 22, NYK signed a sales and purchase agreement with France's Total acquiring all of the company’s shares in the ship management company, Gazocean. Based in Marseille, France, and responsible for the management of six LNG carriers, Gazocean is now a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK. The move is designed to strengthen NYK’s ship-management system and expand the company’s LNG transportation business in France. Total, MOL Charter LNG Bunker Vessel

Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions (TMFGS) and , Ltd. (MOL) have signed a long-term charter contract for a second large LNG bunker vessel, to be delivered in 2021. She will be positioned in the Marseille-Fos area in France.This bunker vessel will be built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China. NYK Line Signs TC for Two LNG Carriers with Total

Japanese shipping giant NYK has signed a long-term contract with a unit of French energy giant Total to charter two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.According to the contract, Total Gas & Power Chartering Ltd (TGPCL) will charter from NYK two newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers that will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Korea and scheduled for delivery in 2021.The two LNG carriers will be equipped with a WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine (i.e., X-DF diesel engine) that has superior fuel-consumption efficiency and can operate on marine gas oil or boil off gas stored in the cargo tank.The carriers will also feature a re-liquefaction system that can use surplus boil-off gas effectively.

LNG Carrier Gaselys Repair Work Complete

Damen Shiprepair Brest (DSBr) has completed a renewal survey maintenance program on the 290-meter LNG carrier Gaselys. Co-owned by NYK Line of Japan and ENGIE (formerly GDF SUEZ), operated by Gazocean and chartered by ENGIE, the 10-year old vessel came into DSBr for a regular periodical docking that included a full schedule of works. When she was launched in 2007 the Gaselys was, along with her sister ship the Provalys, the largest LNG carrier ever built. Today they are still among the largest in operation anywhere in the world.

Tenth LNG Carrier to Damen Shiprepair in France

Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) says it has received its 10th LNG carrier repair order from GDF SUEZ in-house technical vessel manager Gazocean. The vessel will undergo extensive maintenance works in the yard. Damen explain that the 73,646 cu.m capacity vessel was delivered under the name of Gaz De France Energy in 2006 at Chantiers de L’Atlantique in St.Nazaire and was renamed in 2009. The vessel was the first vessel fitted with a Dual Fuel Diesel Electric Propulsion which is now a new standard of the LNG shipping industry and has a GTT CS1 type LNG containment system. The vessel will stay in the yard for approximately 55 days of which 20 days in dry-dock.

LNG Carrier Chartered by UK-Japan Partners

London-based NYK subsidiary NYK Energy Transport (Atlantic) & GDF Suez time charter the LNG carrier 'Grace Barleiria' for 4 years. Grace Barleiria has been operated by NYK since her delivery in 2007. She has a capacity of 149,700 m3 and is equipped with GTT's Mark III technology. NYK and GDF SUEZ say that they regularly assess new business opportunities and cooperate in shipping activities: co-ownership of the LNG carrier Gaselys (60% NYK, 40% GDF SUEZ), co-ownership of the ship management company Gazocean (80% GDF SUEZ, 20% NYK), and the chartering of the Grace Cosmos and the Grace Acacia, sister-ships of the Grace Barleria.
