ABS, GTT and DHT Developing LNG-fueled VLCC Design

ABS, Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) and DHT Holdings, Inc. signed a joint development project (JDP) to optimize a new, very large crude carrier (VLCC) with liquified natural gas (LNG) propulsion that meets Class and statutory requirements.The dual fuel vessel is intended to provide flexibility for operations and to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.The agreement—signed at the Gastech 2023 conference in Singapore—will see ABS, GTT and DHT focus on optimizing the VLCC design…

GTT Ceases Its Activities in Russia

French engineering group Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) said on Monday it was stopping its activities in Russia after analyzing the latest European sanction packages which include a ban on engineering services with Russian firms.The group said its contract with Russian shipbuilding company Zvezda for 15 ice-breaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers would be suspended as of Jan.

Chinese Shipyards Feast on Record LNG Tanker Orders as S.Korea Builders Fully Booked

China is making fast inroads in the market for newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers as local and foreign shipowners turn to its shipbuilders for the specialty vessels because long dominant yards in South Korea are fully booked. Three Chinese shipyards - only one of them having experience building large LNG tankers - won nearly 30% of this year's record orders for 163 new gas carriers, claiming ground in a sector where South Korea usually captures most of the business.

GTT Bags Tank Design Order from China Yard

French LNG containment specialist Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) announced that it has received an order from the Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co. Ltd for the tank design of two new LNG carriers (LNGC) on behalf of the Japanese ship-owner “K” LINE.Each vessel will offer a capacity of 79,960 m3. GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will be fitted with the NO96 L03+ membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT. GTT Acquires Marorka

French LNG containment specialist  Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has acquired 100 percent of the share capital of the Icelandic smart shipping specialist Marorka.Based in Iceland and specialized in Smart Shipping, Marorka designs maritime energy monitoring and optimization systems for vessels, allowing them to reduce their environmental footprint. GTT Wins 2 LNG Tank Design Orders from Hyundai

French multinational naval engineering company Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has received two orders from the Korean shipyards, one from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) and the other one from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the tank design of two Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier (LNGC).Each vessel will offer a capacity of 174,000 m3. GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.The first LNGC will be built in HSHI shipyard on behalf of an Asian ship-owner whose name remains confidential at this stage. The vessel delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2022.The second LNGC will be built in HHI shipyard on behalf of the Korean ship-owner SK Shipping Co.

GTT Wins 8 LNGC Orders from HHI Yard

French liquefied natural gas (LNG) containment system specialist Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has received several orders from Korean shipyards Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) for the equipment of eight new LNG Carriers (LNGC).According to a press note from the French LNG storage technology firm, the orders were receirved at the end of December 2019.Each vessel will offer a capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be fitted with the Mark III Flex technology.Four of these LNGCs will be built by HHI: two on behalf of an Asian ship-owner and two on behalf of a European ship-owner. Wison, GTT Ink LNG Floater Accord

French technology firm Gaztransport and Technigaz (GTT) has signed a technical assistance and license agreement (TALA)  for the use of its membrane solutions for liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels with Chinese shipyard Wison Offshore & Marine (WOM).The deal covers equipment of floating liquefied natural gas units (FLNG), floating storage and regasification units (FSRU), floating storage regasification power (FSRP) units and LNG carriers, using membrane solutions developed by the French LNG containment specialist.WOM is a pioneer in floating LNG in China, being the first in the world to deliver barge-based FLNG and FSRU on a turn-key basis.

LR Approves New LNG-Fueled VLCC Design

The UK-based maritime classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR) has granted approval in principle (AiP) to a quartet for an LNG-fueled VLCC design that uses a prismatic GTT Mark III membrane LNG tank.The AiP was granted to China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), CNOOC Gas and Power Group, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC), and Gaztransport and Technigaz(GTT).The main objectives of the AiP include developing a specification for a dual fuel VLCC that meets the IMO’s GHG 2030 emission limitations and preparing the relevant design drawings.CMES and CNOOC G&P, with assistance from LR and GTT, also performed an economic analysis in terms of capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX).

GTT to Design LNG Tanks for LNG Carriers Trio

French multinational naval engineering firm Gaztransport & Technigaz SA (GTT) has received orders from an Asian Shipyard concerning the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tank design of three new LNG carriers.All three will be built on behalf of European ship-owners. GTT Intros Several Advances in LNG Tech

French multinational naval engineering company Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) announced several advances in its technology development process.The American Bureau of Shipping classification society issued the "LNG Cargo Ready" rating to GTT for its latest VLEC (Very Large Ethane Carrier) model, a first in the ethane sector. GTT LNG Carrier Orders at Record Highs

Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), a company specialised in the design of membrane containment systems for maritime transportation and storage of liquefied gas, said its business activity was marked by a number of successes during the first nine months of 2019, particularly in the field of LNG carriers.In addition to the 26 orders for LNG carriers booked during the first half of the year, there were an additional 14 bookings in the third quarter of 2019, i.e. a total of 40 LNG carrier orders during the first nine months of 2019.GTT's core business activity is, therefore, at a particularly high level. Partners Developing LNG-fueled VLCC

GTT Scores VLEC Order from HHI & SHI

GTT Wins Two Orders from Hyundai Heavy

French liquefied natural gas containment system specialist Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) announced that it has  received two orders from the Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).Each order is concerning the tank design of one new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier (LNGC), one on behalf of the ship-owner Tsakos and the other one on behalf of Capital Gas Carriers, said the engineering company.Each unit will offer a capacity of 174,000 m3, it said.GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system. GTT Wins DSME Order for 4 New LNG Carriers

French liquefied natural gas containment system specialist Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has received an order, in June, from the Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).The shipping engineering company said in a press release that the order is concerning the tank design of four new 174,000 m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers on behalf of the Greek ship-owner Maran Gas.The delivery of the ships is planned between end of 2021 and early 2022, said the release.Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT said: "We are very pleased to continue our partnership of excellence with DSME and Maran Gas with this considerable new order."Last month, GTT received an order from the Chinese shipyard Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd.

GTT to Design LNG Tanks for Sembcorp

French shipping engineering company Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has received an order from Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine shipyard concerning the tank design of the LNG bunkering vessel on order at the yard for Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) subsidiary.The LNG containment specialist said in a release that it will design the tanks of the vessel, which will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.The vessel will offer a total cargo tank capacity of 12,000 m3. GTT Wins Tank Design Order from HHI

French liquefied natural gas containment system specialist, Gaztransport Et Technigaz SA (GTT) has been contracted by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to design tanks for two LNG carrier newbuilds.The engineering company said in a press release that the vessels were being built on behalf of the Greek ship-owner Dynagas.Each vessel offering a capacity of 180,000 m3, these units will be equipped with tanks fitted with the Mark III Flex+ containment system, it said. The vessels’ delivery is expected for the first semester of 2022, the release added.Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, said: “This new order, first Mark III Flex+ ordered by HHI, highlights the trusting relationship GTT maintains with the shipyard. Record Level of New Orders for GTT in 2018
