Jolly Rosa Enters the Messina Fleet

Genoese group Ignazio Messina & Co.has been taken delivery of the container vessel Jolly Rosa. Flying the Italian flag and enrolled in the International Registry at the Genoa Port Authority, the ship measures 260 x 32m with a gross tonnage of 42,112 tonnes and a transport capacity of 4387 TEU containers, 360 of which are reefer. Under the command of Captain Simone Galli with a crew of 23 people, 13 of whom are Italian, 4 EU and 6 non-EU, she joins in the Messina fleet the Jolly Oro and the Jolly Argento which have been purchased and entered service for the group in recent months.

CMA CGM Upgrades NEMO service

Shipping group CMA CGM has reinforced its Europe / Indian Ocean & Australia offering by upgrading its NEMO service, which liaises North Europe and the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean Islands and Australia on the southbound leg and Australia to southeast Asia and Europe on the northbound leg.This upgraded service will be effective in September 2019 and operated in partnership with MSC, subject to applicable filing requirements.CMA CGM said the new offer will feature an upgraded fleet and provide expanded port coverage through a better utilization of hubs offering dedicated feeder services.

Maersk Line Jordan Connects Aqaba to South India

Maersk Line Jordan rolled out its new ME5 service, which directly connects Aqaba to South India and the Western Mediterranean. The ME5 service aims to improve maritime transport in the Kingdom, with direct calls to Aqaba from key global logistical hubs and faster transit times under the strictest reliability standards, says a press release from the company. This will solidify Aqaba's presence on the global logistical map by securing more reliable and efficient maritime transport services, which will have a lasting positive impact on Jordan's national supply chain and will help underscore Aqaba's position as a viable trade and investment hotspot.

Container Ship Crashes into Genoa Port Control Tower

At least 3 people dead and up to 6 missing after the container ship 'Jolly Nero' hit the tower in the hours of darkness. Part of the tower, in which about 14 people were present at the time of the accident at around half past midnight local time, crashed into the water. One of the victims was reported by Malta Today to be a woman in her 30s, while the other two were male. The Italian container ship is almost 200 metres long, 30 metres wide, with a gross tonnage of more than 40,500,  and was bound for Naples.

Ship Agency Cambiaso&Risso has taken over Carlo Sciaccaluga srl, the historic ship agency established in 1903 as a forwarding agent in Genoa port and now boasting a solid reputation in the food industry, vegetable oils and chemical sector (particularly Biodiesel), and many customers at an international level. This is another important takeover for Cambiaso&Risso Agency, which contributes to strengthening its international leadership in the maritime service sector. The agreement was signed a few days ago between Sampierdarena Olii srl - which owns Carlo Sciaccaluga srl and is part of SAAR DP SpA, owner of the largest coastal food warehouse in Genoa Port and the fastest-growing company in this sector over the last few years – and Cambiaso&Risso: it will enter into force in September 2011…

Sea Highway System Top Italian Priority

Rete Autostrade Mediterranee spa (Mediterranean Sea Highways, henceforth RE.A.M. ), was recently capitalized with 1 million euros to coordinate the projects related to the building of the Sea Highways on behalf of the Transportation and Infrastructures Ministry in close partnership with the Ministry of Economy. The company is controlled 95% by Sviluppo Italia and 5% by Sviluppo Italia aree produttive (Production areas diviison of Sviluppo Italia). The Company has been presented by the Ministry of Infrastructures (Pietro Lunardi) and by the Managing Director of Sviluppo Italia Massimo Caputi on March, 23 in Rome. "We are putting into practice an intuition we had more than 20 years ago," said Minister Lunardi while pointing out the job the Government has done in the last 30 months.
