Geodis Wilson Appoints Middle East Managing Director

Global freight management company, Geodis Wilson, said it plans to continue growing its Middle East network and has announced the appointment of Sascha Geiken as new Cluster Managing Director for the Middle East region. Sascha Geiken joined Geodis Wilson in 2009 as Managing Director of Geodis Wilson United Arab Emirates. In his new position as Cluster Managing Director, he will be responsible UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Sascha Geiken, who started his freight forwarding career in 1995, has many years of experience in the Middle East working for major logistics companies.

Geodis Wilson Wins Award for Project Cargo Forwarding

Geodis Wilson, a freight management companies, has been awarded the Best Logistics Service Provider – Project Cargo, at the 27th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA). SK Yeung, Managing Director Geodis Wilson Greater China, and Bill Guo, Sales Director for Hong Kong and China, received the Award during the ceremony in Beijing. The key criteria for award entrants for this particular category were to provide bespoke solutions for cargoes outside the normal product range; effective and easy to us IT systems, including tracking of cargo, backed by efficient and professional customer services systems; and the ability to think outside the box. Geodis Wilson appointmented Santiago Jimeno as the new Managing Director of Colombia with immediate effect. Kim Pedersen, 47, has been appointed Executive Vice President of Geodis Wilson, heading up the Freight Forwarding Division. “In Kim Pedersen we have a person at the top of our freight forwarding activities who brings the capabilities, the experience and most importantly the right mindset to lead this important business unit of Geodis further into areas of strong and sustainable growth on a global scale”, says Marie Christine Lombard, CEO of Geodis. Geodis Wilson is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Martin-Neuville as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Freight Board Member of Geodis Wilson with immediate effect. Eric will be taking over responsibility from Fernando Gea who is retiring from his position as COO of Geodis Wilson. Panama Canal Lock Gate Transportation Contract for Geodis Wilson

As part of a US$50-million contract Geodis Wilson will manage the transport of 16 lock gates, each weighing more than 4,000 tons, for Panama Canal expansion project. An initial vessel, carrying four of the gates will depart from Italy in February 2013 and will be followed by a further three shipments throughout the year. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2013. The new gates are part of the large-scale expansion plan by the Panama Canal Authority that is designed to double the capacity of the Panama Canal by 2014.
