Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) and its president and CEO, Mike Petters, received the Reserve Officers Association's 2015 Nathan Hale Corporate Patriot Award presented at the ROA STARS Foundation Gala on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The Nathan Hale Corporate Patriot Award is presented to a corporation and its senior leadership committed to serving the nation, military veterans and military reservists. This year's award was presented to both HII and Johnson & Johnson. "I am honored to accept the Nathan Hale Corporate Patriot Award on behalf of all the veterans at HII," Petters said.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today that Mike Petters, its president and CEO, was honored by the Navy League of the United States New York Council at a dinner last night in New York City. Petters was awarded the Rear Admiral John J. Bergen Leadership in Industry Award for his leadership of HII and the company's achievement in designing and building the ships that help maintain the sea power that assures the United Sates' security and economic prosperity. He was one of five individuals recognized by the Navy League.

Newport News - Huntington Ingalls Industries President and CEO Mike Petters spoke at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business on March 6. Petters' address was part of the school's Leadership Speakers Series, which features the world's thought  leaders and gives MBA students, faculty and staff the opportunity to hear and discuss leaders' stories and advice. Petters shared with students his views on leadership, talent development and the importance of having great people. When asked what he has learned in his career as a leader, Petters said success is not the result of products or processes, but the efforts of people. Northrop Grumman Corporation has elected C. Michael Petters as corporate vice president and president of the company's Newport News sector, succeeding Thomas C. retirement. Petters will assume his new position on Nov. 1, 2004. Ronald D. Sugar, Northrop Grumman's chairman, chief executive officer and president. Petters, 44, currently serves as the sector's vice president of human resources, administration and trades, and most recently was instrumental in the successful collective bargaining agreement between the company and the United Steelworkers of America.
