Gary Vogel, chief executive officer of Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc., has been named as the Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) Commodore for the year 2022.The 2022 Commodore Award, given each year to a person in the international maritime industry who has contributed to the growth and development of the industry, will be presented on March 31, at the Gala Dinner marking the conclusion of the annual Connecticut Maritime Association conference and expo, in Stamford, Conn..Vogel has served as CEO and director of Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. (NASDAQ: EGLE) since September, 2015.

This morning CMA announced that Mr. John D. “Jack” Noonan, CEO of Chembulk Tankers, has been named as the CMA Commodore for the year 2017. Angeliki Frangou, Chairman & CEO of the Navios group of companies has been named as the Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) Commodore for the year 2011. Frangou follows a long succession of influential maritime industry leaders as Commodore. The Award will be presented to Frangou on March 23, 2011 at the Gala Dinner marking the conclusion of the annual Connecticut Maritime Association conference and trade exposition. The Award is given each year to a person in the international maritime industry who has contributed to the growth and development of the industry.

Seabulk International, Inc. and SEACOR Holdings Inc. announced that they have signed a definitive merger agreement. The Boards of Directors of both companies have unanimously approved the transaction. Under the terms of the merger agreement, Seabulk's stockholders will, subject to limited adjustments, receive 0.2694 of a share of SEACOR common stock plus cash of $4.00 for each issued and outstanding share of Seabulk common stock, which represents a 29% premium over Seabulk's closing share price on March 16, 2005 (based on SEACOR's closing share price of such date). In certain circumstances, the portion of the merger consideration payable in cash may be reduced and shares of SEACOR common stock, having a value on the closing date equal to the cash reduction, may be substituted therefor.

The Ras Laffan, a new Aframax double-hull crude carrier, was delivered to QM Tanker Co., LLC, a joint venture company owned 50/50 by Mobil Shipping and Transportation Company (MOSAT) and Qatar Shipping Company. The vessel was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries Company Ltd. "We are pleased to add this new tanker to Mobil's service," said Gerhard Kurz, MOSAT president. "We look forward to this partnership with Mobil and the long-term success of the new joint venture company," said Abdulaziz Salatt, director of Qatar Shipping Company and sponsor of the Ras Laffan. The 105,775 dwt Ras Laffan is 800 ft. (244 m) long, 138 ft. (42 m) wide and can carry a cargo of 755,000 barrels of crude oil. The ship will be in service worldwide.
