1,000th Becker Mewis Duct to Be Presented at Nor-Shipping

Hamburg-based Becker Marine Systems will present its 1,000th Becker Mewis Duct in Oslo at Nor-Shipping 2015. The use of all ducts previously delivered will have lowered CO2 by more than 1.4 million metric tons. The Becker Mewis Duct has not been a successful product for Becker Marine Systems alone, the company said. It is also contributing towards the global objective of enhanced sustainability in the shipping industry. The Becker Twisted Fin is also being presented at the trade fair.

Sharp Surge in Russian Traffic via Hamburg

Russia is the second-most important trading partner for the Port of Hamburg in terms of seaborne container handling. With a total volume of approx. 675,000 standard containers (TEU) handled between Hamburg and the Russian ports, the volume of container traffic was up by a further 13.3 per cent in 2012, consolidating the lead in foreign trade with Europe and overseas via Hamburg. This positive trend is also attributable to Russia’s decision to join the WTO, resulting in associated simplifications in commercial law as well as the dismantling of trade barriers.

SMM India - CLOSING REPORT

With some 3,000 delegates and visitors from all parts of the world, SMM India, shipbuilding, machinery & marine technology international trade fair, closed after the three scheduled days of the exhibition and accompanying conference, held in Mumbai from 7 to 9 April. This second event established SMM India as one of the most important maritime trade fairs on the subcontinent. The state-of-the-art products and new developments presented there met with a great deal of interest from the trade visitors, among whom there was a delegation of thirteen representatives of German industry.

“The maritime industry will become more and more important for India in the coming years,” said Tobias König, Founder and Managing Director of König & Cie. GmbH & Co. KG, an issuing house based in Hamburg, Germany. A representative of König will be present at the accompanying conference at SMM India 2009. This is the first shipbuilding trade fair on the Indian sub-continent, taking place under quality label of SMM, the leading shipbuilding fair. It is organised by Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC) and the two partners and co-organisers INTER ADS Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd. (the largest Indian trade show organiser) and E. J. Krause & Associates, Inc. (a globally active U.S. event specialist), at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from 12 to 14 November 2009.

SAM Electronics to Exhibit at Marintec

Hamburg-based SAM Electronics will exhibit in the German Pavilion (Stand 1C31) in association with its local Shanghai office and its Chinese joint-venture company, SAM Taihang Electronics of Taizhou, a comprehensive range of advanced navigation, propulsion, power management and distribution, and ship automation systems. Key exhibits include sections of a locally-produced Integrated Bridge System combining and automating all main bridge equipment operating functions for navigation, communications and general ship management. It incorporates a latest NACOS Series 4 navigation command system. Among other navigation products will be the new European wheelmark-accredited Debeg 3400 UAIS together with its companion Debeg 3401 Display Control Unit (DCU).

Hamburg-Messe to Present German Companies at Nor-Shipping

The German Pavilion at Nor-Shipping, to be held in Oslo, Norway from June 12 to 15, will be the setting for presentations by 13 companies. These international companies will show their latest maritime products to the leading international decision makers of the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry and to European shipowners in Hall C. With one exception (Podszuck GmbH), all the companies are exhibitors at the SMM, the world's premier shipbuilding trade fair, which is held every two years in Hamburg, and set up new records for exhibitor and visitor numbers again last year. Hamburg Messe und Congress are once more demonstrating their maritime expertise in organising the German Pavilion in Oslo, for the benefit of exhibitors who wish to be present at important maritime events worldwide.
