Monaco based cruise line Silversea Cruises has ordered another new ship from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.The $382 million contract for the construction of luxury cruise ship Silver Dawn follows Silversea's September 2017 order for sistership Silver Moon to be delivered from Fincantieri in 2020.The newbuilds will be the second and third vessels in the Muse-class series. Geneva headquartered MSC Cruises announced plans to enter the ultra-luxury cruise segment with a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the construction of four new vessels from Italian builder Fincantieri. TUI Cruises Orders Two LNG Newbuilds

TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises has placed an order with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to build a pair of new-generation cruise ships to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).The new 161,000 gross ton vessels will be built at the Monfalcone shipyard and delivered in 2024 and in 2026. Including the new pair, the cruise line’s Mein Schiff fleet will grow to nine ships by 2026.“These will be the largest ships ever built in Italy,” said Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri.

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri said it has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Carnival Corporation brand Princess Cruises for the construction of two 175,000-ton cruise ships. Princess Cruises Takes Ship Delivery from Fincantieri

Majestic Princess, the third Royal Princess class cruise ship built by Fincantieri for ship owner Princess Cruises, was delivered at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. Princess Cruises, a Carnival Group brand, will deploy the new vessel on the Chinese market. The 145,000-gross-ton Majestic Princess is said to be the largest ship ever built in Italy, able to accommodate 4,250 passengers in 1,780 cabins and 1,350 crew members. Viking Ocean Cruises Extends Order at Fincantieri

Viking Ocean Cruises and Fincantieri signed a memorandum of agreement for the construction of two additional cruise ships, with an option for another two. The new builds will be sister ships to the six already ordered and will enter Viking fleet in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The final contracts will become effective upon the fulfillment of financing and other customary closing conditions. Fincantieri Buys Stake in Isselnord

Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri said it has signed through one of its subsidiaries an agreement for the acquisition of a stake in Isselnord, an Italian company operating in defense-related sectors and in the main industrial branches in the civil sector, specialized in logistic support engineering, maintenance and information technologies. The agreement was signed through Fincantieri’s company Delfi, created in 2008 in joint venture with Isselnord, charged with the development of logistic support engineering and maintenance activities related to orders in the naval sector. The initial transaction is for a majority stake in the company, with full takeover to be completed within a predetermined time frame, Fincantieri said.

Fincantieri, Mapei Enter R&D Partnership

Shipbuilder Fincantieri said it has partnered with Mapei, a producer of adhesives and chemical products for the construction sector with a business line of shipbuilding industry products, in the field of research and innovation. According to Fincantieri, the strategic cooperation agreement will help it to optimize installation times, reduce the weight of certain materials, improve acoustic insulation by using specific products, develop and extend the use of adhesives products in some shipbuilding applications. France to Nationalize STX if Italy Deal Fails

French govt has made 50/50 ownership offer to Italy; Minister says offer on the table until Thursday. The French state said on Wednesday it would nationalise the STX France shipyard if Italy does not accept its offer to split STX's capital equally, putting down a marker on the limits of economic liberalism under new President Emmanuel Macron. The threat raises the stakes in a standoff with Rome over the shipyard's fate, the only one in France with facilities large enough to build aircraft carriers.

Silversea Cruises Orders Newbuild from Fincantieri

Silversea Cruises has place an order worth about €310 million (US$371.4 million) with Fincantieri for the construction of a new ultra-luxury cruise ship. The new vessel, tentatively named Silver Moon, will be a sister ship of Silver Muse, delivered in April at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Sestri Ponente, Genoa. At 40,700 gross tons and with a capacity to accommodate 596 passengers on board, the ship will maintain the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodations. According to the builder, the new ship will achieve Green star 3 Design notation assigned to units that are designed, built and equipped in order to prevent air and water pollution, as well as the COMF-NOISE A PAX and COMF-NOISE B CREW notations assigned on the basis of the ship’s measured noise levels.
