RDM Building New Catamaran for World Heritage Cruises

Eco Vessel Features Silent Drive
Incat Crowther launched of Spirit of the Wild, a spectacular new tour vessel for Gordon River Cruises, and the first in Australia to operate in World Heritage-listed wilderness with Silent Drive. Offering interpretive tours into the heart of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, Spirit of the Wild will give customers a unique natural experience. Built by Richardson Devine Marine, Spirit of the Wild is fitted with a pair of MTU 10V2000M72 main engines. Added to this is a cutting-edge hybrid electric system, consisting of a pair of ABB e-motors, driving Hybrid-ready ZF gearboxes.
New Eco-friendly Tour Vessel Announced
Incat Crowther said that construction is underway for an innovative tour vessel to operate in Tasmania’s south west. The vessel will be operated by Gordon River Cruises and will offer interpretive tours into the heart of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. From the inception of the project, priority was put on delivering a superb customer experience. Incat Crowther developed a concept that utilized triangular side structure to enlarge openings and minimize vertical window posts that create obstructed viewing locations. Dark reflective floor-to-ceiling glass will provide an unparalleled viewing experience and will help the vessel ‘disappear’ whilst cruising on the river.
MV Eagle Launched
The latest Incat Crowther vessel to be built by Richardson Devine Marine (RDM) has been successfully launched and trialed along Hobart’s Derwant River. The MV Eagle, a 36m Catamaran Ferry, was built for World Heritage Cruises who operate scenic wilderness cruises from their base in Strahan, on Tasmania’s west coast. Eagle was designed to carry 222 passengers with a service speed of 28 knots fully loaded. The main cabin can seat 136 passengers with a mix of reclining seats, seats at tables and comfortable lounges.
New Crowther Cat Headed For Tasmania’s Gordon River
An eco-friendly tourist catamaran by Crowther Design and builder RDM is headed for Tasmania’s Gordon River. The vessel will be the fifth commercial vessel designed and built by the pair to operate in the popular tourist region. Designed and built for the vessel’s operator, Gordon River Cruises, it is their second vessel from Crowther and RDM. The new vessel is 32m, with a 9 m beam and a passenger capacity of 220. The design has floor to ceiling windows on the main and mid decks and raised center aisle seats allowing more vision for passengers. The vessels unique design features a curved bow, deck ends and transom, and a Portuguese bridge. The vessel is powered by two MTU 16V 2000 engines coupled to ZF 2250 gearboxes which drive five-bladed propellers. With a range of 250 n.m.
