Stardancer, the second cruise-to-nowhere vessel to dock in Little River, S.C., had its grand opening last month. The vessel includes 160 slot machines, offers a full restaurant with a chef, can hold up to 500 passengers, and will employ more than 100 people, making it the largest single employer in Little River. The community's other gaming vessel, Victori, has been conducting twice-daily gambling excursions to international waters since November.

Port Newark Container Terminal Celebrates Grand Opening

The Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) will celebrate its official grand opening of the $175 million terminal redevelopment project at a ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow, September 26, 2002. The ceremony will begin at noon at the PNCT facility, located at 241 Calcutta Street in Port Newark, NJ. Joseph Assante, president of Port Newark container Terminal, will host the event and HRH Prince Andrew, The Duke of York will be guest of honor. Members of the PNCT Board of Directors as well as other distinguished members of the Port Authority of NY & NJ, State of New Jersey and local officials will also be in attendance. The redevelopment features state-of-the-art upgrades to the terminal’s gate complex with the installation of OCR gate technology…

Casino Boat to be Unveiled

According to the Chicago Sun Times, pending regulatory approvals, the grand opening of the new $170 million gambling vessel at the Blue Chip Casino & Hotel in Michigan City, Ind., will be celebrated next week. It will mark the culmination of a two-year on-site construction project. The new boat will feature a 65,000-sq. ft. casino on one level and is reported to have the largest hull of any casino boat in the nation.

GAC Hosts Open House at New Facility

GAC is hosting an Open House giving its customers and all oil and gas companies the opportunity to view its new warehouse in the Central Green District of Houston, Texas. The 180,000+ sq. ft. LEED (Leader in Energy and Environment Design) certified cross dock facility includes four acres of outside storage space within a designated Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and is in close proximity to George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The new building centralizes GAC USA's local and regional executives, multiple business areas and staff under a single roof at 16200 Central Green Blvd in Houston. NAVIS TOS Connects at DP World Brisbane

Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, supported the grand opening of the DP World Brisbane container terminal as its Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) went 'Live'. Implementation of N4 at DP World Brisbane, the fourth member of the DP World Australia family of terminals to go live on Navis N4 over the last three years, completes the standardization and optimization of the TOS software across all DP World Australia sites. DP World Brisbane is one of Australia’s most sophisticated terminals.

Odyssey to Open “SHIPWRECK!” Exhibit in Times Square

Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc., will ring the Opening Bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the grand opening of Odyssey's “SHIPWRECK!” exhibit at Discovery Times Square on Friday, May 24. A live video stream of the Opening Bell Ceremony will be viewable at www.nasdaq.com starting at 9:15 a.m. EDT. "The exhibit features more than 500 authentic artifacts and treasures, a wealth of maritime history and some really neat interactive elements that are fun for all ages which let you experience what it's like to be a shipwreck explorer,” said Greg Stemm, Odyssey's chief executive officer.

MITAGS Technology Center to Celebrate Grand Opening of Simulation Technology Center

The Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) will celebrate the grand opening of its marine simulation technology center on March 26. The event will include a reception, entertainment, and continuous tours of the various technology centers including the full-mission bridges, the towing simulators, the 14-station computer lab, the vessel traffic, the All-Weather Navigation, and the new crane simulator. This is one of the largest and most sophisticated class A full-mission simulators in the world and it has been upgraded and integrated into two towing, six part-tasks, and one vessel traffic simulators. O’Brien’s Group Celebrates Grand Opening of Command Post and EOC

The O’Brien’s Group celebrated the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art Command Post and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Slidell, La. O’Brien’s previous Command Center was destroyed when Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area in 2005. The Command Center has been the foundation for O’Brien’s emergency response management services, which are provided to over 150 oil and gas company clients, as well as local, state and federal agencies. O’Brien’s also provides Qualified Individual (QI) and Spill Management Team (SMT) services to the shipping industry representing over 5,000 ships operating in U.S. territorial seas. Emergency calls received by O’Brien’s clients worldwide are managed from the Slidell Command Post and EOC.

Inauguration of Jimmie H. Hobaugh Community Center

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today the completion of the Captain Jimmie H. Hobaugh Coast Guard Community Center. The Foundation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration on Monday, July 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Anne Brengle, Coast Guard Foundation president; RDML June Ryan, commander for Coast Guard District 9 (Cleveland); and CAPT Stephen Teschendorf, captain of the port will share remarks.

Port of Tacoma Celebrate Opening of Olympic Container Terminal

The Port of Tacoma celebrated its third major container terminal grand opening of 2005. For officials of Taiwan-based Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, the Port and more than 200 guests, the event was highlighted by a traditional Lion Dance, meant to bestow good fortune at the new Olympic Container Terminal. The newly renovated, 54-acre (21.6-hectare) Olympic Container Terminal (OCT) is located on the Port's deep-water Sitcum Waterway, adjacent to the on-dock North Intermodal Yard and just a few miles from Interstate 5 and other major highways. "As the gateway to the Pacific Northwest, the Port of Tacoma is ideal for Yang Ming Line," said Spring C.C. Wu, President of Yang Ming (America) Corporation.

PNCT Grand Opening Marks New Beginning

Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT), the $175 million terminal redevelopment project in Port Newark, N.J. has officially opened its gates for business. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, PNCT was christened by the U.K.’s HRH Prince Andrew to be the most advanced, international, multi-user container facility on the east coast. The joint venture company of P&O Nedlloyd and P&O Ports, Port Newark container Terminal signed a 30-year lease with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in 2000 to operate a 176-acre container terminal in Port Newark. For the past three years PNCT has been a working container terminal as two phases of the redevelopment process were in progress.

Port of Palm Beach Opens New Office and Terminal

The Port of Palm Beach will celebrate the grand opening of the new 100,000 sq. ft. Cruise Terminal and Maritime Office Complex on February 11. Festivities will include the inaugural State of the Port Address before local, regional and state dignitaries and a tour of the new Cruise Terminal. The Port of Palm Beach District is an independent special taxing district of the state of Florida. The Port District, located in Palm Beach County and established in 1915 by the citizens of Palm Beach County, covers a land area of 971 square miles. The Port is one of the busiest container ports in Florida and continues to be an economic engine for Palm Beach County.

NYK Line, Transnational Diversified Maritime Academy Opens

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and the Transnational Diversified Group (TDG) welcomed around 950 students and guests to the grand opening of the new NYK-TDG Maritime Academy in Canlubang, Philippines. NYK and its business partner TDG decided to establish this maritime college, which will educate and train future crew members during their school years so that they will not only be able to handle issues involving management but will also gain practical knowledge that is required on board vessels. Those attending the event included Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, president of the Philippines; Philippine government officials; Koichiro Yamazaki, Japanese ambassador to the Philippines; and parents and family members of the 120 excited new students.

LR Opens Office in Veracruz

Lloyd’s Register Central and South America Ltd., celebrated the grand opening of its new office with more than 100 clients, employees and local government officials in attendance. After 16 years in its original Veracruz location, Lloyd’s Register’s move to a new, larger facility underscores the significance of Mexico in its overall business strategy for the Americas and the importance of Veracruz for establishing a base for planned expansion into other industries throughout Mexico. Situated on the east coast of , is the oldest port in the country and the main port entrance along the coast, serving the world’s bulk carrier and container ship trade.

Goltens Facility Opens at Dubai Maritime City

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the mixed-use development for maritime business, announced the Grand Opening of the new Goltens facility at the City. The ultra-modern facility seeks to support Goltens’ operations worldwide. Dubai Maritime City project is built over 2.27 million square meters in area and offers a multi-use environment for commercial, industrial, residential and recreational use,. This manmade peninsula is located between Port Rashid and Drydocks World –Dubai and offers Real Estate and Shipyard facilities.

MOL Launches Ship Management, Training Businesses

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) today announced that the company has established MOL Synergy Marine (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. jointly with Synergy Group , a ship management services group in Chennai, India, to provide ship management and crew training services. MOL Synergy hosted its grand opening ceremony on October 8 and has since started managing five MOL-operated vessels and established a crew training center with latest technology simulators in Chennai. The center is equipped to train ship board crew in all aspects of ship operations including navigation, watch keeping, cargo handling and ship maintenance.  

NASSCO Opens Bremerton Repair Facility

General Dynamics NASSCO celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Bremerton, Wash., yesterday. VBR Celebrates Grand Opening of Broussard Facility

Variable Bore Rams, Inc. (VBR), one of the largest original equipment manufacturer (OEM) ram providers in the world, will celebrate the grand opening of their Broussard office with an open house from 2 -8 p.m. on Oct. 25. The open house will showcase the 26,654-square-foot shop and warehouse; 3,000-square-foot climate controlled elastomer storage room; and the 7,671-square-foot office where all administrative and operational duties will be performed. Scheduled in conjunction with Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Expo (LAGCOE), the open house will feature facility tours, live music, food and drinks.

A.P. Moller - Maersk Group and Xiamen Port Celebrate Opening of Terminal

A.P. Moller - Maersk Group and Xiamen Port (Group) held a grand opening ceremony for the Xiamen Songyu Phase I Container Terminal at Songyu Port, Xiamen. Madam Wu Yi, Vice Premier of the State Council, presided over the opening ceremony in the presence of Madam Ma Xiuhong, Vice Minister of Commerce. More than 200 people attended the event, including government officials from Fujian province and the city of Xiamen, as well as senior executives from the Xiamen Port Group and from A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, including Mr. Tom Behrens-Sorensen, Group Executive Vice President, and Mr. Richard Nicholson, Vice President for APM Terminals in the Greater China Area. APM Terminals is the terminal operating unit of A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.

MAN Diesel Seattle Facility Opens

MAN Diesel celebrated the official opening of its newest service centre in Seattle, Washington on 27 October to further expand its PrimeServ network in North America. The Grand Opening of MAN Diesel PrimeServ Seattle took place in front of more than 100 customers, suppliers and business partners, including the local Honorary German and Danish Consuls. The newly renovated, 1,800-m2 workshop and 400-m2 office space will handle customer requests for all basic repair and service requirements, and include complete overhaul facilities for fuel equipment and turbochargers.
