Vattenfall Picks Port for Giant Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone

Renewable energy developer Vattenfall has selected the port at Great Yarmouth, run by infrastructure specialists Peel Ports, as the preferred location for the operations and maintenance base for the Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone.When completed, Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone will be able to power around 4.6 million households.According to Peel Ports around 130 new jobs would be created with staff directly employed for the lifetime of the project which is around 35 years.

Peel Ports in Brexit Preparedness

UK port operator Peel Ports Group has been officially accredited with the internationally recognized quality mark of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) at all its principal ports by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customers, affirming the Port’s efficient and robust processes to customers worldwide.The Liverpool based port operator said that achieving AEO status from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs was a “significant milestone” especially on the path towards Brexit.Peel Ports Group has successfully achieved AEO status for the following ports: Clydeport Operations Limited, Port of Sheerness Limited, The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company Limited…

Newbuild Rescue Vessel Bound for Breagh Field Deployment

A new multi-role emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV) built by Aberdeen-based Sentinel Martine as part of a £110 million ($145 million) investment has been deployed to operations in the southern North Sea. Forties Sentinel was officially named at a ceremony in Great Yarmouth. Forties Sentinel has been contracted to INEOS Breagh to provide support for the firm’s production facilities in the Breagh gas field. INEOS has also chartered a second ERRV from the Sentinel Marine fleet – Sentinel Ranger – for the field.

Peel Ports Buys Great Yarmouth

Peel Ports Group has completed the acquisition of Great Yarmouth Port Company Limited (GYPC) from International Port Holdings for an undisclosed sum. GYPC is well established as the leading UK port servicing the UK sector of the Southern North Sea offshore oil and gas industry and has other activities in regional grain, aggregate and other bulk and general cargoes. In its last annual accounts, it reported revenue of £10.9m and an operating profit of £4.5m. It currently employs approximately 65 employees all of whom are located at Great Yarmouth. Mark Whitworth, Chief Executive of Peel Ports said: “GYPC will complement Peel Ports core ports business by providing both geographical and commercial diversification. It is a very welcome addition to our business portfolio.

East Anglia gets Dudgeon Deal

Dudgeon Offshore Wind Ltd has awarded the contract to build its onshore operations and maintenance (O&M) base to East Anglian construction company R G Carter. The company has been contracted to build the wind farm's new O&M base at Berth 9 located next to the River Yare within the Great Yarmouth port. Work commenced in early July 2015 and is scheduled to be completed during the second quarter of 2016. RG Carter have been contracted to convert an existing warehouse into Dudgeon's permanent office and logistics facility. Fendercare Wins Eastport U.K. Fendering Contract

Norfolk-based Fendercare Marine, a supplier of marine products and services, has secured a contract to supply Yokohama fenders to Eastport U.K. Norfolk port. The contract, won against international competition, is for the supply of 17 Yokohama pneumatic fenders measuring 2 x 3.5 m to be used at the Great Yarmouth port. Fendercare Marine is currently celebrating 25 years of trading, having built their reputation as a supplier of quality marine products – in particular Yokohama fenders.
