Countdown to London International Shipping Week

The countdown to London International Shipping Week 2017 (LISW17) officially began last night with an exclusive launch reception held at the iconic Norton Rose Fulbright building on London’s South Bank. The launch reception brought together representatives from many of the maritime world’s leading organisations and figures from UK Government to learn of the aspirations, plans and exciting opportunities that LISW17 will deliver between September 11-15, next year. Addressing the 130 invited guests, Jeremy Penn, Chief Executive at the Baltic Exchange and Chairman of the LISW17 Steering Group, proudly acknowledged that London International Shipping Week had firmly established itself as a major event in the world’s maritime calendar.

IBIA Celebrates 23th Annual Dinner

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has appointed three new members to its Management Board and one new member to the IBIA in Africa Board. The appointments were announced at the Association’s 23th annual dinner, which was held on February 8 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Heralding the beginning of International Petroleum week, the prestigious event attracted a record number of attendees, with over 1100 bunker industry professionals at the dinner, despite the gloomy state of the industry.

Singapore's Transport Minister to Speak at LISW 2015

London International Shipping Week 2015 (LISW) is delighted to announce that Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore’s Minister for Transport, has confirmed that he will speak at the official LISW Conference on 10th  September 2015 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane. Mr Lui Tuck Yew will speak in the session on: “National, Supranational and Global Governance – The role of governments in a global maritime industry: Should governments lend their support and how can they participate in growing their domestic sectors? IBIA Urges Bunker Suppliers to Adopt ISO Fuel Specs

In a bid to improve bunker quality across the marine fuel supply chain, the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) informs that it has called on marine fuel suppliers to adopt the ISO 2010 specifications for bunkers. Despite having been introduced four years ago to improve bunker standards, it is estimated that only a quarter of bunker suppliers are currently supplying in accordance with the 2010 specifications. “ECO vessels are now entering the market equipped with engines which are more sensitive than vessels have ever had before.

Subsea 7 Wins Pipeline Industries Guild Award

Subsea 7, a provider to the offshore energy industry, has won the Pipeline Industries Guild’s (PIG) 2012 Subsea Pipeline Technology Award. The award was made at the PIG National Dinner in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The award recognizes Subsea 7’s technology initiative for the installation of Mechanically Lined Pipe (Bubi® pipe) by reel–lay³. Subsea 7’s has been working with the pipe manufacturers  BUTTING to optimize the technical and commercial benefits of using Bubi® pipe over corrosion resistant alloys and metallurgically clad pipes currently used by the industry. The technology, independently qualified by DNV, has demonstrated its market potential and been adopted for the first major Pre-Salt project, Guará-Lula NE, in Brazil by Petrobras.

Record Numbers Attend The IBIA Annual Dinner 2011

THE International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) welcomed a record number of 985 members and their guests to its 17th Annual Dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last week. The popularity of the dinner, which was previously held at the Hilton, on London’s Park Lane, enabled the association to move the event to a larger venue for 2011. Charlotte Egan, IBIA Event Manager, says, “The decision to move the event to the Grosvenor House was a wise one. Its capacity for dinners is one of the largest in London. DP World, UAE Region has been named Shipping Port of the Year for the third time at the prestigious annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards 2010 (SCATA).
