MAN Commissions Siemens to Supply Two-speed Gearbox for Vessel

Siemens provides with an order from MAN out its expertise in the construction of switchable special gears. Flender two-speed transmission are individual, switchable solutions for displaying different operating modes for specialized vessels. Various translations in a transmission enable different rotational speeds and power transmissions. This makes them particularly suitable for ships which require an alternative drive as a redundant system or emergency system, are powered hybrid, have several modes of operation, or to generate electricity at the same time during operation of the diesel engine. The two-speed transmission are characterized by a very high efficiency. They can be customized and application-specific adapted to the various operating modes and functions.

Parker Kittiwake Launches Condition Monitoring Starter Kit

Parker Kittiwake today launched the Condition Monitoring Starter Kit. The kit combines the Parker Kittiwake DigiCell combined kit, the Holroyd MHC-Bearing Checker, and a PC tablet with a condition monitoring routine and log book pre-loaded on it to help guide the user in using the products for maximum effect. Created with the aim of introducing the power of condition monitoring to those owners and operators less familiar with it, the Condition Monitoring Starter Kit combines essential tools that protect vulnerable equipment and prevent failure. It utilises modern condition monitoring technology to simplify everyday maintenance observations and provide advance warning of possible maintenance requirements.

The new control generation GEA Westfalia Separator IO automatically regulates the desired program with one touch.

GEA Heat Exchangers to Present at SMM

GEA exhaust gas recirculation cooler for two-stroke diesel engines

GEA Heat Exchangers said it will present its latest innovations at SMM 2014, the maritime-business trade fair for shipbuilding, machinery and marine technology from September 9-12 in Hamburg Germany. The company will exhibit in hall A3, at stand 212, where visitors can become acquainted with a variety of product innovations for maritime operations and offshore applications. In addition to its already proven exhaust gas recirculation coolers (EGR) for four-stroke diesel engines, GEA Heat Exchangers now presents a new model for two-stroke diesel engines in medium and high output ranges.

Potential Tognum Apprentices Get to the Show Workbench

At the 2013 IBO exhibition, Tognum, & subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen present glimpse of technical training possibilities to young visitors. MTU Friedrichshafen will be giving visitors a glimpse of the wide range of vocational training the company has on offer. In Hall A3, Stand 300, trainees will be presenting the opportunities available at entry level at Tognum – from mechatronics to marketing and from apprenticeships to courses of dual university and practical study. Whilst trainees explain the most important aspects of jobs in the commercial sphere and set visitors typical trainee tasks to solve, industrial mechanics will be on hand offering the chance to drill and assemble various pieces at the workbenches.
