OSG to Install Starlink Fleetwide

OSG Crews Make Two At-sea Rescues in 18-hour Span

U.S. based shipping company Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) said crews aboard two of its vessels rescued a total of six individuals in two separate incidents occurring within 18 hours of each other.On the evening of May 30, 2023, the crew of the Overseas Santorini, as well as two other vessels, were notified by U.S. Coast Guard Norfolk of a sailing vessel in distress in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The closest point of land was the Azores approximately 800 miles to the East.

HMD Delivers Newbuild Pair to OSG

Florida-based tanker shipping company Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) has taken delivery of two 50,000 dwt class product and chemical tankers at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea.The tankers, named the Overseas Gulf Coast and Overseas Sun Coast, were built to comply with MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 13 Tier III standards regarding nitrogen oxide emissions within emission control areas.In addition, each vessel is fitted with an exhaust gas cleaning system, often referred to as a “scrubber”, to meet the standards of MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 14 standards regarding sulfur oxide emissions. DuPont Performance Polymers and Ireland-based Technology from Ideas (TFI) collaborated to develop  a novel way to allow moored devices to move with the sea, which dramatically reduces peak loads up to 70% and improves durability of  mooring lines that tether and protect high-value marine devices, such as wave energy devices and fish farms. The new Dynamic Tethers wave protection system replaces chain and rope mooring, which pulls taut, rattles and wears quickly as it moves against the sea.

Foss Vessels Environmental Excellence

For 17 years, the Arthur Foss, a tugboat operated by the Foss Maritime Company, has been free of environmental mishap. So have the Drew Foss and a dozen other Foss vessels. Sixty-seven vessels owned by Foss and three subsidiaries are being recognized by a major maritime organization for their standout environmental safety records. The Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) is honoring the Foss vessels along with vessels from three Foss subsidiaries - Gulf Caribe Maritime, America Cargo Transport, and Constellation Maritime.

Halloran Promoted to Vice President at A&B

Kevin L. Halloran has been promoted by Alexander & Baldwin, Inc., to vice president, corporate development and investor relations. He had joined the company last October as director, corporate finance and investor relations, and has added corporate planning to his responsibilities; he continues to report to A&B's Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Christopher J. Benjamin.

Halloran Joins A&B

Kevin L. Halloran has joined Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. as director, corporate finance and investor relations. In this newly created position, he will be responsible for a variety of corporate finance functions, including communication with the investment community and oversight of corporate development activities. Halloran will report to A&B's Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Christopher J. Benjamin. Halloran earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Colgate University and completed the Bankers Trust Management Training program, a year-long, MBA-level management training in accounting, corporate finance, international banking and risk assessment and management.
