Crane for US-built WTIV Charybdis Heads to Texas

The crane for the first ever U.S.-built wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) is on its way to America.The 2,200mt Huisman leg encircling crane has been loaded onto BigLift Shipping's Happy Star for shipment to the Keppel AmFELS shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, where it will be installed on Charybdis, a WTIV being built for Blue Ocean Energy Marine, a Dominion Energy company. BigLift Shipping Expands Heavy Lift Fleet

BigLift Shipping said it has ordered a third Happy S-type vessel. The new build vessel, to be named Happy Sun, will be identical to BigLift’s Happy Star and will be built by Ouhua Shipbuilding in Zhoushan, China. The new vessel is expected for delivery in the first quarter of 2018. Happy Sun will feature two 900-metric-ton Huisman Heavy Lift Mast Cranes which will make her geared for the handling of heavy cargoes all over the world. With her high crane pedestals and lengthened jib she will have a lifting height only matched by her sister Happy Star in the worldwide fleet of heavy lift vessels.

Heavy Lift: Topside Module Delivered for Yadana Gas Field

SapuraAcergy awarded BigLift Shipping the transportation contract for a wellhead production topside module for the offshore Yadana gas field, off Myanmar. BigLift loaded the module in Ulsan, Korea, and transported it to the Yadana field, where SapuraAcergy’s S3000 would lift it off and install it onto its offshore foundation. Happy Star loaded the topside module of just under 1,000 metric tons with her two 900-metric-ton heavy lift mast cranes at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan.

Svitzer Takes Delivery of Two Damen ASD Tugs

CPP and special render recovery winches ensure superb performance. Svitzer, the leading global towage and salvage specialist, has taken delivery of two Damen ASD Tugs 3212 in the UK. The initial contract was signed at the Tugnology 2015 event, which took place in London in May. The vessels were built for stock at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam and arrived in Rotterdam in late October as part of a 22-vessel consignment on board BigLift Shipping’s heavy-lift vessel, Happy Star. Named the Svitzer Deben and Svitzer Kent respectively, the 32-metre vessels deliver 80 tonnes of bollard pull and are equipped with 2.8 metre controllable pitch propellers (CPP) and special render recovery winches. Kent has also been equipped with FiFi1 fire-fighting capabilities while the Deben has an aft winch.

Damen ASD Tug Delivered to Clyde Marine

Clyde Marine Services has taken delivery of its first Damen ASD Tug, the shipbuilder announced today. The Damen ASD 2310 has been named CMS Warrior, and she will join a 12-strong fleet of tugs and crew tenders at the Scottish company. Based in Greenock, Scotland, Clyde Marine Services was established in 1913 and has a long history of working with Damen vessels. The first experience of a Damen vessel was when the marine services company bought a Damen Pushy Cat in the mid-eighties. The fleet includes Damen Stan Tugs 1906 and 1907, as well as two Stan Tug 1s.

Heavylift Vessel Brings 22 Damen Vessels to Rotterdam

BigLift Shipping’s heavy-lift vessel Happy Star arrived in the Port of Rotterdam bringing with her Damen’s largest transportation of stock vessels to date; a total of 22 vessels. Included in the Damen transport are two Fast Crew Suppliers 2610, one ASD Tug 2310, three ASD Tugs 2411 and three ASD Tugs 3212, all of which have been sold and will be delivered to clients upon arrival. Heavy-lift Ship Transporting 22 Vessels from Asia to Rotterdam

Press release - The Damen Shipyards Group is shipping a total of 22 vessels from several Damen shipyards aboard the heavy-lift vessel Happy Star. This is Damen’s largest transportation of stock vessels to date. Upon arrival in Europe later this month, the completed vessels will be ready for immediate sale and can swiftly be put into operation. Damen has already sold a number of the vessels being transported. Amongst these are two Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 to be used at North Sea offshore wind parks.

BigLift Shipping Welcomes Happy Sky

BigLift Shipping celebrated the name-giving of its new Heavy Lift Vessel Happy Sky. The ceremony has taken place at Huisman China’s new quay side in Zhangzhou, China, which was officially opened at the same time. The name-giving ceremony of the Happy Sky was performed by Ms. Erni Bartel, the partner of Joop Rodenburg, CEO of Huisman. Huisman and BigLift Shipping share a long history together in the design of heavy lift cranes and handling materials. Besides that, Huisman has been a valuable customer for many years.
