MV Werften Rolls-out New Production Facility
Hong KongâGerman shipbuilding company MV Werften put into operation the laser-hybrid welding line in its new hall 11 for producing panels measuring up to 25 x 16 meters for the Global Class cruise ships.Mecklenburg-Western Pomeraniaâs Economics Minister Harry Glawe, representatives of Genting Hong Kong, MV Werften , the automation provider Pemamek as well as other project partners were present in the new Hall 11 when the plant produced its first weld seam.âThe new plant enables us to make a significant increase in the capacity of our steel prefabrication for the Global cruise ships in Rostock and take a further, important step towards Industry 4.0.
Keel Laid for Dream Cruisesâ New 204,000 gt Ship
A keel laying ceremony for Dream Cruisesâ Global-Class flagship was held at MV WERFTENâs Rostock shipyard today.At 204,000 gross tons and with 2,500 suites and cabins, the new cruise ship designed specifically for the Asian market will be the largest ever to be built in Germany. The first section measuring 22 meters long, 26 meters wide and weighing 410 tons, about half of the full keel, marks the start of construction.Approximately 1,000 shipyard employees, partners and guests attended event.

Shipbuilder MV Werften said it has begun building Crystalâs new luxury expedition yacht, Crystal Endeavor, with first steel cut on January 15 at its shipyard in Stralsun, Germany. MV WERFTEN Fertigmodule GmbH will supply fully prefabricated state-of-the-art passenger and crew cabins for the ships of the Global and Endeavor Class, with the first ones due as early as spring 2018. With the building of the first reference cabin, MV WERFTEN Fertigmodule GmbH officially started production September 1. MV WERFTEN Constructing New Shipbuilding Hall
MV WERFTEN has started constructing a new hall complex that will house its new panel, section and section outfitting lines at the shipbuilderâs shipyard in Rostack, Germany. MV WERFTEN Invests Another $14.4 Mln in Wismar Yard
The founding of a new cabin factory is part of the MV WERFTEN Groupâs extensive investment program at its Wismar site. MV WERFTEN Fertigmodule GmbH, part of the MV WERFTEN Group, officially took over its own cabin factory in Wismar. The facilities with a total area of 22,000 square meters will be used for manufacturing ship cabins for the cruise ships with delivery from 2020. Besides a modern production area of 8,700 square meters, the acquired premises have over 4,000 square meters of storage area.
MV WERFTEN, Foreship Sign Design Agreements
MV WERFTEN signed a letter of intent with the engineering company Foreship in Stralsund today. The agreement includes parts of the basic design as well as design, purchasing and production assistance of the âEndeavorâ class luxury expedition yachts. The 20,000 GT cruise vessels will be built at MV WERFTEN Stralsund, with production starting late 2017 and deliveries from spring 2019. âWe are excited to build a series of the world's first purpose-built expedition yachts, with PC6 polar-class designation,â stated Jarmo Laakso, Managing Director of MV WERFTEN. âOur own staff at all sites and other subcontractors have already been fully involved in this project.
Newly Formed MV WERFTEN to Focus on Cruise Builds

Nordic Yards at Russia's Top Shipbuilding Fair
"Russia is and will remain an essential market for us", stated Vitaly Yusufov, owner and Managing Director of Nordic Yards. Currently there are a number of Russian contracts in the Nordic order books. For example yesterday, September 23, construction of two ice-breaking rescue and salvage ships ordered by Russia's Ministry of Transport in December 2012 started at the Nordic Yards shipyard in Wismar. After delivery in 2015 they will be used for patrol and rescue operations on the northern Polar Sea route.
Maritime Industry Gears up for St. Petersburg
