Under the Bridge: Heerema's Crane Vessel Thialf Enters Baltic Sea (PHOTOS)

Dutch offshore installation firm Heerema Marine Contractors said Monday its semi-submersible crane vessel had crossed the Storebaelt Bridge, known as the ‘gate to the Baltic Sea.'"This crossing is the first time a Heerema crane vessel has accessed the region and is the result of innovative crane alterations to enable passage below the bridge. Brouwershaven to Resign as CEO of Heerema to Focus on New Challenges

Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven will leave Heerema as CEO on May 31, 2022. Van Brouwershaven was the CEO of Heerema Fabrication Group from 2013 and also the CEO of Heerema Marine Contractors from 2018.Van Brouwershaven said: "I have worked with passion and dedication at this professional company for almost ten years. Jan Pieter Klaver will start as CEO of Royal IHC on January 1, 2022, taking over from Gerben Eggink, who fulfilled the role of CEO on an interim basis for more than a year and a half. With Klaver Royal IHC is bringing in an experienced CEO from the maritime sector, and together with Paul van der Harten (CFO) and Kees van der Snel (COO), they form the three member Executive Board.After his training as a civil engineer at the Technical University of Delft, Klaver started at Heerema.

Heerema Marine Contractors' giant semi-submersible crane vessel Sleipnir has broken its recently set heavy lifting record with the removal of Shell's 10100 mT Brent Alpha jacket in the UK North Sea."This single jacket lift breaks Sleipnir’s recent record for lifting the 8100 mT Jotun-B jacket," Heerema Marine Contractors said Wednesday.The removal of Brent Alpha jacket is Sleipnir’s fourth decommissioning job for this summer. Oceanco Acquires Heerema Facility

Dutch superyacht builder Oceanco has acquired the premises of Heerema Zwijndrecht as part of the company's long-term initiative for growth, expansion, and consolidation of its construction activities.These new facilities of Heerema Fabrication Group, which builds massive offshore oil platforms, will be a hub that will allow numerous co-makers to physically set up offices alongside the construction works, encouraging maximum synergy and co-maker alignment among all parties.The site will serve as what the builder calls a “superyacht brain park,” said a press release.The construction and outfitting facilities will be utilised in several different ways.

Rosetti Marino Withdraws from Heerema Deal

Italy's Rosetti Marino has withdrawn its offer to buy Heerema Fabrication Group’s (HFG) Zwijndrecht facility in the Netherlands, with HFG confirming the yard is to close.Rosetti Marino and HFG entered into a letter of intent on the 16th of November with the aim to sell to Rosetti Marino the HFG activities at the yard in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands.Both companies have worked closely together and in good mutual cooperation to investigate the viability of this proposed sale.Rosetti Marino, after careful consideration of the risks and opportunities, has concluded that this acquisition did not meet its requirements due to adverse market…

Heerema Fabrication Group Sells UK and Netherlands Yards

Dutch offshore construction and engineering company Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) intends to divest a significant part of its activities in the field of design and fabrication of complex steel constructions for the offshore market.HFG has been struggling for some time with insufficient project volume and marginal profitability. In addition, the risks associated with building topsides are high and clients are not prepared to pay for this risk.As a result of the divestment HFG intends to dispose of its activities at the locations in Zwijndrecht (The Netherlands) and Hartlepool (United Kingdom). The intended restructuring will see the closure of HFG’s head office in The Netherlands.

HFG Awarded Offshore Platform Contract

Tulip Oil Netherlands Offshore B.V. has awarded Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract for the Q10-A unmanned offshore platform. Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, CEO of Heerema Fabrication Group, states: "We are very pleased with this award from Tulip Oil, and the collaborative way in which we are working together with our client. This project is a good example of HFG's competence to develop a project from the client's functional requirements through to the final delivery offshore. "We will perform the full platform FEED and EPCI in one continuous program, rather than the traditional multi-stage approach. This enables a fast-track delivery program, resulting in lower execution risk," Koos-Jan added.

Culzean Wellhead Jacket and Access Deck Set Sail

Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has completed the project for the Culzean Wellhead jacket and Access Deck for client Maersk Oil. April 13 at Heerema Vlissingen, the Netherlands the Wellhead jacket and April 11 at Heerema Hartlepool, U.K. Wellhead Access Deck set sail to their final destination: the Ultra High Pressure High Temperature Culzean development field in the U.K. sector of the North Sea, where Heerema Marine Contractors will perform the installation. On October 21, 2014, Maersk Oil awarded HFG the Procurement & Construction contract for the Culzean Wellhead jacket, the Wellhead Access Deck and the Access ways. Heerema Vlissingen constructed the jacket, while the Wellhead Access Deck with the Access ways was constructed by Heerema Hartlepool.

Imtech Supplies HVAC System to Marathon Oil Platform

On December 19, 2014 Heerema Fabrication Group (Zwijndrecht) awarded Imtech Marine a contract to supply the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system to the 6,000-metric-ton Alba B3 Greenfield compression platform, which is currently under construction for Marathon E.G. Production Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corporation. Imtech Equips HelWin bèta with HVAC System

On June 14, the HelWin bèta platform left on a barge from the Heerema Fabrication Group's (HFG) yard in Zwijndrecht for Schiedam to complete outstanding work. Last week, HelWin bèta reached its final destination in the German North Sea, where the platform will supply more than half a million households with sustainable energy. That requires high-tech systems. Imtech Marine is responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of the HVAC system, being the heating, ventilation and especially the cooling of all high-quality equipment on the platform.

Heinen & Hopman Complete HVAC Project

Heinen & Hopman in the Netherlands has completed the installation of a major HVAC system onboard the Dolwin Alpha offshore converter platform. Designed by IV-Oil and Gas, commissioned by Tennet/ABB and built by Heerema Fabrication group, the platform is now ready to be moved to the North Sea. This project involved the complete design and engineering of the HVAC systems, which Heinen & Hopman completed on time and to satisfaction. Heinen & Hopman received the initial order from the Heerema Fabrication group to become the HVAC subcontractor for the Dolwin Alpha project in July 2011.

Dutch HFG Wins Offshore EPCI Contract

Heerema Fabrication Group contracted by Marathon E.G. Production to deliver the new Alba B3 greenfield gas compression platform. The Alba Field is a gas and condensate field located approximately 20 miles north of Bioko Island. MEGPL operates the Alba Field on behalf of itself and working interest partners Samedan of North Africa, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Noble Energy, Inc.and Compania Nacional de Petroleos de Guinea Ecuatorial. The gas compression platform is to be bridge-linked to the existing Alba B2 platform.

Seaspan Selects IFS Applications to Support $8B Navy Deal

“They (IFS) also have a partnership with our existing CAD software supplier which will help us ensure the continuity between design and engineering processes that are so essential to efficient shipbuilding processes," said Seaspan Shipyards President Brian Carter.

IFS North America said that Seaspan has selected IFS Applications as its Shipbuilding materials requirements planning (MRP) solution. IFS Applications was chosen because it provides a powerful project-based solution (PBS) with the ability to control cost and schedule in real-time, enhancing Seaspan’s ability to efficiently meet customer requirements. This capability will help Seaspan deliver on the recently awarded $8 billion Federal Government shipbuilding program to build non-combat vessels for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.

Panama Canal Requests Proposals For New Locks Construction

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) released its Request for Proposal (RFP) Friday on the "design-build" contract for the new locks under the Canal's Expansion Program. Four global consortia will now move forward with their bids on what will be the largest and most important project under the $5.25b expansion. The Expansion Program will build a new lane of traffic along the Panama Canal through the construction of a new set of locks, doubling capacity and allowing more traffic and longer, wider ships. The ACP will meet with consortia representatives in February 2008 regarding the content of the RFP for the construction of the new set of locks. Proposals are due August 2008.
