Tampa Bay’s Cross Bay Ferry a winner for HMS Ferries

The Ferry’s second season this year presents permanent possibilities.The Cross Bay Ferry from Tampa’s Florida Aquarium dock to the dock at the North Yacht Basin in St. Petersburg, Florida is off to a rollicking start, with 3,000 more passengers in it’s debut month of November 2018 than its strongest month during the 2016/2017 test period, and with continued support from Tampa Bay area leadership.“We are very encouraged by the numbers we are seeing so far,” St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman said.

Paul “Chip” Jaenichen Joins Liberty Global Logistics

Best Workboats of 2017

Marine News showcases the best of North America’s 2017 workboat deliveries. There is something for everyone. Notwithstanding the lingering offshore energy downturn, there were plenty of bright spots for North American shipyards in 2017. If a hull was delivered in 2017, we took a look at it, with several areas as a focus for inclusion into this edition. For starters, it is always exciting when a domestic yard delivers a vessel – or multiple vessels, for that matter – to foreign buyers. We can compete in a foreign arena; on price, quality and on-time delivery. This year was no different. No less important is the environmental footprint of a vessel, and there was plenty to report on from that angle in the past 12 months. The domestic waterfront is indeed getting greener and cleaner.

Seaward Services Concludes 15-year Westpac Express Work

Seaward Services, an HMS Global Maritime company, recently marked the end of a 15-year working relationship with Austal on the Westpac Express project. Seaward Services was awarded a contract in 2001 to provide operations, maintenance and technical management. Effective June 1, 2016, while another company has taken over the charter of the vessel, Seaward Services will continue its operations, maintenance and technical management of the Westpac Express. The High-Speed Vessel (HSV) Westpac Express transports military personnel and equipment over a 1,200 mile range in Asia for the Marine Corps Third Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) and Military Sealift Command. The 101-meter vessel, home ported in Okinawa, Japan, can carry 970 troops and 236 vehicles, and travel at speeds of 35 knots.

Allen Naugle Joins HMS Global Maritime

HMS Global Maritime welcomed Allen Naugle as the Director of Safety, Quality and Environment as of December 1, 2014. He will be headquartered in the HMS Global Maritime Corporate office in New Albany, IN. Allen brings 28 years of engineering and leadership experience to the team, including 21 years serving as a United States Air Force Officer. Prior to his position with HMS Global Maritime, Allen was Director of Operations for TEAM Integrated Engineering, Inc., managing on-site environmental compliance, pollution prevention, hazardous materials/waste management, and environmental security support to multiple U.S. Air Force bases as well as management of several branches, staff and budgets. Each year, Louisville Business First, a weekly business publication in Louisville, KY, releases a list of the fifty fastest growing privately-held companies in the area. The list represents a wide variety of companies who are ranked by growth percentage over the past three years. The awards luncheon takes place annually and is in its 15th year of recognizing fast growing companies. This year, HMS Global Maritime was ranked number five on the list, with a growth percentage of 146.97%. Hornblower Subsidiary to Operate Superferries for Navy

Seaward Services to operate and maintain HSV ALAKAI and HSV HUAKAI for the United States Navy. Seaward Services (SSI), a HMS Global Maritime (HMSGM) company based in New Albany, Indiana, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract through Military Sealift Command (MSC) to operate and convert the former Hawaii Superferry vessels HSV Alakai and Huakai for MSC. HMSGM has been managing these vessels since overseeing their construction and was the operator during the use of Alakai in Hawaii as an inter-island fast ferry.

HMS Global Maritime Extends Westpac Express Contract

HMS Global Maritime (HMSGM) announce the extension of the HSV WestPac Express’ charter with the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC) and the Third Marine Expeditionary Force, beginning in February 2012. The contract can last up to an additional two years. The HSV WestPac Express has been operated by HMSGM for the past nine years as a high-speed transport vessel for military personnel and equipment over a 1,200 mile range in Asia. HMS Completes Purchase of American Queen

HMS Global Maritime completed the purchase of the steamboat American Queen. Built in 1995, the American Queen, at 419-feet long, is the largest, most opulent riverboat ever built and offers 222 staterooms and suites that accommodate 436 guests attended to by a crew of 160. John Waggoner, President and CEO of HMS Global Maritime state, “I am thrilled that this acquisition is finally complete. It has been a long, windy and challenging road, but we finally made it to the end. Having the American Queen ply the waters of the mighty Mississippi and its tributaries is a piece of Americana that should be returned to service. Voyage lengths will range from three nights to fourteen nights, detailed itineraries and fares will be available next month.

HMS, Corpus Christi Enhance Harbor Ferry Service

MARCH 11, 2011 (NEW ALBANY, Ind.) HMS Global Maritime is excited to announce the launching of the Harbor Ferry service in Corpus Christi, Texas, serving the Coastal Bend community and surrounding areas. In a partnership with the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), HMS Global Maritime will launch the service to the community on March 12, 2011, making it their eighteenth operating location worldwide. “The Board of Directors and all employees at RTA are very excited to renew this service to the community,” said Scott Neeley, RTA CEO.

Fernandez Joins HMS Global Maritime

HMS Global Maritime has hired Mark Fernandez as General Manager of the Oklahoma City River Transit operation. Fernandez will oversee and manage Oklahoma River Cruises’ three-vessel operation along the seven-mile stretch of the Oklahoma River. Each vessel carries up to 49 passengers on scheduled ferry service from the Meridian Landing, the newly added Exchange Terminal and Regatta Park, with charter services also available. HMS Global Maritime has been contracted to run the service since 2007 by the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA).
