Oil Platform Worker Medevaced in the Gulf of Mexico

An ailing crew member was medevaced from an oil platform approximately 150 miles east of Corpus Christi, Thursday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.The Coast Guard said its watchstanders at Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi received a call at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday from personnel on ExxonMobil's Hoover-Diana oil platform stating a a 54-year-old crew member was experiencing a cardiac event. Roughead Joins Fincantieri Marinette Marine Board

Former Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead was elected as the chairman of the board of directors of Fincantieri Marinette Marine Corporation July 10.Roughead was the 29th Chief of Naval Operations from 2007 - 2011, after holding six operational commands. He is one of only two officers in the history of the Navy to have commanded both the U.S. Atlantic and Pacific Fleets.Roughead served in several key positions aside from his sea duties, most notably as the commandant of the U.S.

New Orleans-based offshore oil industry service provider Laborde Marine Management  announced that Ashton P. Laborde has been appointed as President of the Company effective January 1, 2019. Laborde joined the Company in 2007 and most recently served as Director of Marketing. Throughout his career at Laborde Marine, Ashton has held various positions of increasing importance in operations. Oil Firm Evacuate Workers as Storm Approaches Texas

Oil companies evacuate workers as storm takes aim at Texas. Royal Dutch Shell, Anadarko Petroleum and Exxon Mobil announced they were curbing some oil and gas output on Wednesday at facilities in the Gulf of Mexico ahead of a storm expected to hit the Texas coast later this week. The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a hurricane watch Wednesday for much of the Texas coast, calling for slow-moving Tropical Depression Harvey to intensify as it nears landfall. Shell said it was evacuating all personnel from the roughly 100,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Perdido oil and gas production platform as a precaution. Anadarko said it had shut in production and was evacuating workers from its Boomvang, Gunnison, Lucius and Nansen platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hoover Ferguson acquires Uniteam business

Hoover Container Solutions, a provider of chemical tanks, cargo carrying units and related products and services, has introduced acid tanks intended for transport and storage of a range of corrosive liquids and chemicals as the newest addition to its offshore product line. Available for short- or long-term rental periods or for purchase, Hoover’s offshore acid tanks are constructed using carbon steel for the vessel, piping, valves, instruments and welds to withstand offshore service, with corrosion-resistant carbon steel used to construct the external frame of the tank.

Hoover Container Solutions Opens Facility in Brazil

Hoover Container Solutions, a global provider of chemical tanks, cargo carrying units and related products and services, opened its new service facility in Brazil. The wash line facility allows Hoover to provide expanded cleaning services while handling all intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), ISO tanks and offshore equipment destined for oil and gas platforms, mining sites, islands and supply bases in the region, Hoover said. Hoover’s new facility is equipped with experienced staff licensed to clean a wide variety of hazardous and nonhazardous materials.

US Hearing to Focus on New Ocean Technologies

The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week to examine the proliferation of new ocean technologies, how such technologies could improve government performance, and any impediments that exist in the use of such technologies. Hoover Adds to Offshore Product Line

Hoover Container Solutions, a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., has added a new DOT / DNV certified Mud Skip / Cutting Box to its offshore product line for transportation and safe handling of hydrocarbon contaminated drill cuttings to and from offshore platforms. The mud skips / cutting boxes have patented sliding doors and a removable crank handle, and the units provide a safe and efficient means for containment of drilling waste for transportation to treatment or disposal sites.

Hoover Container Solutions,a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., has named Matt Matis as director of sales for the Gulf of Mexico region. Matis is based in Thibodeaux, La., and will work closely with Hoover’s facilities in Port Fourchon, New Iberia and Scott, La. Matis will lead Hoover’s Louisiana sales efforts with a focus on the offshore industry while managing several major customer accounts. Additionally, he will work closely with the Hoover and Dolphin Energy Equipment teams to develop an integrated product and service offering to better support customers.
