Horizon Lines New Terminal in Oakland

Horizon Lines Names Raymond As Chairman

Horizon Lines Inc., a container shipping and integrated logistic company, on Friday said its board of directors voted to appoint current President and Chief Executive Charles "Chuck" G. Raymond as the company's first chairman. Raymond will retain his current responsibilities. Raymond has served as president, CEO and as a director of Horizon Lines Inc. since July 2004, and of Horizon Lines LLC since February 2003. Before joining Horizon Lines, Raymond served as an executive officer at railroad operator CSX Corp.

Ship Finance Terminates Charters With Horizon

Ship Finance International Limited (NYSE:SFL) has agreed to terminate chartering agreements with Horizon Lines, LLC relating to five of its vessels. Ship Finance will receive as termination compensation $40 million in second lien notes issued by Horizon Lines and warrants exercisable into ten percent of the common stock of Horizon Lines, Inc. as part of the restructuring outlined below. The 2,824teu vessels were built in Korea in 2006 and 2007, and have been chartered to Horizon Lines for an average of approximately 5 years. The original bareboat charter term was for 12 years, but following the termination of the Horizon Lines charters, Ship Finance will employ the vessels in the time-charter market instead.

Horizon Lines of Guam to Begin Micronesia Service

Horizon Lines, LLC initiated a new service to the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau under the carrier's subsidiary company, Horizon Lines of Guam, LLC. The new service starts January 15th. Horizon Lines of Guam offers through bills of lading for service between Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Yap and Palau and the United States. Shipments between the U.S. and Guam, Tinian and Rota will continue to be booked with Horizon Lines, LLC. The new offering will utilize Horizon Lines, LLC vessels for service between U.S. mainland ports and Guam. FSM Line will provide service between Guam and Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae and Western Pacific Shipping for service between Guam and Yap and Palau.

Horizon Lines Announces Organization Changes

Charles G. Raymond, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Lines, Inc. said several organization changes, key executive promotions and a realignment of senior management responsibilities. Effective September 1, 2007, Horizon Lines, Inc. is structuring its transportation and logistics operations under two wholly owned subsidiaries, Horizon Lines, LLC, and Horizon Logistics, LLC. Horizon Lines, LLC will continue as the nation's leading Jones Act container shipping company, with a fleet of 21 U.S.-flag vessels and service routes linking the continental United States with Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Micronesia and Puerto Rico.

SFL Sells its Holding in Horizon Lines

Ship Finance International Limited (SFL) has sold its holding of notes and warrants in Horizon Lines, Inc. for net cash proceeds of approximately $72 million. In April 2012, Ship Finance received $40 million of Horizon Lines second-lien notes and 9.25 million warrants in Horizon Lines in connection with a termination of the charters for five container vessels. Mr. Woodward succeeds Stephen H. Fraser, who has served as interim President and CEO since March 2011. Container Shipping Line Wins Service & Reliability Award

Horizon Lines is the only Jones Act ocean carrier to receive a 2011 award from Lowe's for domestic ocean transportation service. Horizon Line to Launch U.S. Inland Express Service

Horizon Lines, Inc. Horizon Lines Reaches Agreement with CSX

CHARLOTTE, NC, May 2, 2011 – Horizon Lines, Inc. (NYSE: HRZ) today announced that it has finalized an agreement with CSX Corporation to reduce charter payments on three vessels leased from CSX. Under the agreement, charter hire expense has been reduced by $3 million annually, retroactive to January 2011, through the January 2015 expiration of the charter. Horizon Lines Experiences Minimal Disruptions from Earthquakes

Horizon Lines reported that the earthquake measuring magnitude 6.6, and several strong aftershocks including one measuring magnitude 5.8, that struck the Big Island of Hawaii on Sunday morning has not significantly impacted its operations. Inspections conducted Sunday found all cranes fully operational and minimal impacts to the Port of Honolulu. Power was restored late Sunday and a Horizon Lines vessel, the Horizon Pacific, made its normally scheduled port call and was successfully worked last night.

Horizon Lines Develops Asia Liner Service

Horizon Lines, Inc. (NYSE: HRZ), domestic ocean shipping and integrated logistics company, announced it has secured two important agreements in the ongoing development of its new Asia liner service. Horizon Lines has appointed Hon Wing Lam as its Owner's Representative and Ben Line Agencies as its General Agent to support the company's ongoing sales and operations in Shanghai and Ningbo. Horizon Lines Issues Statement on Antitrust Investigation

Horizon Lines, Inc has confirmed federal agents served search warrants and a grand jury subpoena relating to an investigation of pricing practices of ocean carriers operating in the trade. Horizon Lines is cooperating fully with the government officials. The company has not been informed of the specific subject matter of the inquiry, being conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. Horizon Lines does not expect the government inquiry to impact the service levels provided to its customers.

Horizon Lines Announces Senior Management Promotions

Horizon Lines Extends Maersk Agreements

Horizon Lines Extends Commercial and Operating Agreements With AP Moller Maersk Group Shipping and logistics company Horizon Lines Inc. said Monday it renewed and extended commercial and operating agreements with Denmark's AP Moller Maersk Group through 2010. Horizon Hawk Enters Service

The Horizon Hawk, a new 2,824 TEU containership in the Horizon Lines, Inc. fleet, made her maiden call today at Tacoma, launching the carrier's enhanced Transpacific-1 (TP1) service between Mainland US, Guam, Micronesia and Asia. The Horizon Hawk is the first of the five Hunter class vessels entering service this year for Horizon Lines, the leading American domestic ocean carrier. All five are of proven international design, have a service speed of over 23 knots and are U.S.-flag, foreign built vessels that Horizon Lines is chartering from subsidiaries of Ship Finance International Limited under definitive long-term charters and related agreements.

Horizon Enters into OSHA Partnership

Horizon Lines of Puerto Rico, Inc., a subsidiary of Horizon Lines, Inc., participated in a signing ceremony of its Maritime Industry Safety Partnership Agreement with the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) Local 1575 and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. This agreement marks the second time Horizon Lines has taken a leadership position nationwide with a safety program of this nature. In 2002, the company became the first ocean carrier and marine terminal operator in the U.S. to sign an OSHA Strategic Partnership. Horizon Lines Participates in Anti-Piracy Testing

Horizon Lines, Inc., (NYSE:HRZ) , the nation's leading domestic ocean shipping and integrated logistics company, recently participated in two separate anti-piracy system trials in an effort to better protect the lives of merchant mariners. In late July, International Maritime Security Network, LLC (IMSN) conducted safety drills and anti-piracy testing aboard the Horizon Crusader, while the ship docked in Orange, Texas. IMSN completed a test of the 'Triton Shield APS' system of deterrence and training. Included in the system drill were deterrent measures for approaching vessels, physical deterrents for potential unlawful boarders, security and fortification for the crew, and mitigating risk of penetration of the safe area. Training and education of key stakeholders was also conducted.
