Gardner Denver Water Jetting Systems now offers its customers the TLE - Trans Line Exchanger Cleaner. This lightweight machine has been developed to clean vertical trans line exchangers in furnaces and other vertical bundles. It consists of two air motors: one to feed the hose and one to retract the hose. aluminum alloy, which can be separated by 4 small air cylinders, for quick-changing of the high pressure hoses. The hoses are moved by two continuous chains with polyurethane blocks, which are powered by the air cylinders. The TLE is small, light and easy to operate. The operator manipulates the switches on top of the unit to drive the hoses. Two handles can be fixed in several positions to suit the operator. A balancer with guides for the hoses is also available.
OSD Rolls Out New Harbor Tug Design
Offshore Ship Designers (OSD) has launched a new tug design as part of its expanding portfolio of fuel-efficient vessels. The 390 gt Azistern 2870 harbor tug has a hard chine hull form which optimizes energy-saving during transit and results in a very low wash. It has a bollard pull of 70 metric tons and a maximum speed of 12 knots. Providing accommodation for six persons, it has an overall length of 28.3 m, and a breadth of 11.5 m. The Azistern 2870 has been designed with multiple deck equipment options, the installation of which are dependent on specific end-user preference.
UK Chamber Stand on Seafarers Minimum Wage
The Government's newly issued 'Guide to the application of the Equality Act 2010 and National Minimum Wage for seafarers' does not make any change to legal entitlement for those working in UK waters, the UK Chamber of Shipping advises. Stabil Introduces New Drilling Tool
Stabil Drill, a Superior Energy Services company, has developed the Stabil Drill Ghost Reamer for application in horizontal shale drilling, announced COO Chris Russo. The Ghost Reamer, an eight-bladed Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) reamer, allows the wellbore to be cleaned and cleared either by back reaming on rigs that have top-drive or for rigs without top-drive, by pulling out to the top of the curve and then rotating forward until reaching total depth. This flexible solution eliminates wiper trips - saving time and money.
LME Certification for Port of Amsterdam
Port of Amsterdam was awarded an LME certification this week by the London Metal Exchange (LME). From now on, Amsterdam is listed as a goods delivery point for aluminium, aluminium alloy, lead, nickel, tin and zinc. This will enable our terminals and forwarding companies to strengthen their position in the ferro and non-ferro markets for short and deep sea. The application for the certification was submitted by Port of Amsterdam to the London Metal Exchange (LME) in November 2017. The arrival of two ship-to-shore gantry cranes at HCT in the summer of 2017 made this application complete.
ABS Rolls Out New Fleet Management Software
ABS announced the release of its Nautical Systems (NS) Enterprise fleet management software, including NS Insight, a new business intelligence module. The NS solution provides complete capabilities to plan, execute and document all compliance work processes. Seaspan Selects IFS Applications to Support $8B Navy Deal
IFS North America said that Seaspan has selected IFS Applications as its Shipbuilding materials requirements planning (MRP) solution. IFS Applications was chosen because it provides a powerful project-based solution (PBS) with the ability to control cost and schedule in real-time, enhancing Seaspan’s ability to efficiently meet customer requirements. This capability will help Seaspan deliver on the recently awarded $8 billion Federal Government shipbuilding program to build non-combat vessels for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.
Schlumberger Drills and Completes First Coiled Tubing Horizontal Well
Schlumberger Oilfield Services successfully drilled and completed the first horizontal well in the Gulf of Mexico with CoilDRILL coiled drilling technology. Working in conjunction with the Spirit Energy 76 drilling team, Schlumberger Integrated Project Management (IPM) designed and drilled and completed the well. An exit window was milled through two strings of pipe, 1,390 ft. of 4.75 in. open hole was drilled with 750 ft. of this hole above 80 degrees. The well was then completed by conveying a horizontal completion assembly consisting of sand control screens, an inflatable packer for zonal isolation, and Dowell's QUANTUM gravel packer open hole isolation assembly on coiled tubing to 8,100 ft.
News: Cal Dive Riser System Deployed in Deepwater Project
Well Ops, Inc., a subsidiary of Cal Dive International, Inc. had the successful first application of the company's purpose-built, open water intervention riser system. Cal Dive's well intervention vessel, the Q4000, deployed the system in 1,042 ft. of water, where it was latched to a horizontal Cameron tree. The system includes a control umbilical, two-in. annular line, 7.375-in. flowhead and swivel. The riser system was integral to a successful well decommissioning operation conducted for a major client in the Gulf of Mexico. The system remained at depth during through-tubing zonal and annulus abandonment operations. The tree was recovered with the system once the well had been safely plugged.

Schlumberger announced at the Offshore Europe 2011 Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition the release of the FORTRESS isolation valve. The FORTRESS valve is designed to simplify the transition from upper completion to production without the need for intervention. “The FORTRESS isolation valve was designed based on field-proven experience and extensive testing related to debris accumulation,” said Mike Garding, president, Schlumberger Completions. “The new valve serves as a bidirectional barrier valve that exceeds ISO 28781 standards to the point of providing a bubble-tight barrier. This barrier enables increased safety, especially in applications such as deepwater where high differential pressure is required.

EC Extends State Aid for Shipbuilding
The European Commission has prolonged the Framework on state aid rules for shipbuilding for three more years, until 31 December 2011. This extension follows an earlier extension in 2006 (see IP/06/1452). The Commission has concluded that the Framework, which came into effect on 1 January 2004 (see IP/03/1607) has been applied without any problems and does not need to be revised at this stage. The Framework's main principle is that horizontal state aid rules apply to shipbuilding except where specific provisions apply that reflect the specific characteristics of the shipbuilding industry and market. The specific provisions contained in the Framework concern regional aid, closure aid, export credits, development aid, employment aid and aid for research, development and innovation.
