BHGI Hires Naval Architects Althouse and Kennedy
Bristol, R.I. based naval architecture, marine engineering and consulting firm Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) announced the continued expansion of its naval architecture and marine engineering firm with two new hires: Taylor Althouse and Kasey Kennedy.Althouse joined BHGI as a Naval Architect. Althouse graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Science in Engineering in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. During his time at the University of Michigan, Althouse interned at Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC.
Eastern Launches Second MPSV for Hornbeck
Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has launched the second of two 302āx76āx26ā multipurpose service vessels in the HOSMPSV 310ES series for Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC., the shipbuilder announced. The new vessel, HOS Woodland (Hull 242), was launched at Easternās Allanton facility on Friday, June 19 at an event with hundreds of Eastern employees and guests in attendance. HOS Woodland is the second ship to be christened on Easternās newly constructed 425ā rocker beam system installed on the northeast corner of Allantonās 760ā launch basin.

DoD Award Dredging, Ship Maintenance, Charter Contracts
US Department of Defense informs of placement of contracts for Chesapeake Bay dredging, dry-docking of USS Pearl Harbor, and charter of surface escort vessels. Norfolk Dredging Company, Chesapeake, Virginia, has been awarded $18,784,248 for a dredging requirement for Baltimore harbor and channels. Maintenance dredging will take place in various channel sections in the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. Fiscal 2014 operations and maintenance (Army) funds in the amount of $18,784,248 were obligated at the time of the award. Work will be performed in Baltimore, Maryland, with an estimated completion date of Feb. 28, 2015. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore, Maryland, is the contracting activity (W912DR-14-C-0031).
Eastern Delivers 6th OSV to Horbeck
Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announced the delivery of the M/V HOS Black Foot (Hull 206) to Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC, ahead of schedule and on budget. The HOS Black Foot is Easternās sixth of 10 offshore support vessels under contract and the second vessel designated as the HOSMAX 310 series by Hornbeck Offshore. Each vessel is Diesel-Electric powered, twin Z-drive propelled OSVs. These high-tech vessels feature four Caterpillar 3516C 16-cylinder turbo-charged Tier III diesel generator engines each rated at 1,825 kW at 1,800 rpm. Main propulsion power is provided by two GE Energy furnished Hyundai 2,500 kW 690VAC electric motors driving two Schottel SRP 2020 FP Z-Drives with nozzles rated at 2,500 kW at 1,025 rpm each for a total of 6,704 Hp.

Great Ships of 2013: Hornbeckās HOSMAX 300 Series
Eastern Shipbuilding Group delivered M/V HOS Red Rock (Hull 202) to Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC. Hornbeckās first vessel, the HOS Red Dawn (Hull 201), was delivered on June 21, 2013 and is currently servicing offshore drilling operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Hornbeckās third vessel the HOS Renaissance (Hull 203) was scheduled for delivery in November 2013. HOS Red Rock is the second of four vessels designated as the HOSMAX 300 series by Hornbeck Offshore and are diesel-electric powered, twin Z-drive propelled OSVās measuring 292 x 64 x 24.5 ft.
Latest DofD Navy Contracts
The latest US Department of Defense, Navy, contracts include: to Defense Support Services LLC for 'COLDS' cargo training, and to Hornbeck Offshore Services for the time charter of an offshore supply vessel for submarine rescue diving support services. Defense Support Services LLC, Mount Laurel, N.J., is being awarded a $24,903,892 indefinite-delivery requirements contract for instructional support services to conduct basic and advanced courses on the Navy's Cargo Offload and Discharge System (COLDS).

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announce that on Thursday October 10, 2013, the M/V HOS Red Rock (Hull 202) was delivered to Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC. The HOS Red Rock was launched on April 19, 2013. Hornbeckās first vessel, the HOS Red Dawn (Hull 201), was delivered on June 21, 2013 and is currently servicing offshore drilling operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Hornbeckās third vessel the HOS Renaissance (Hull 203) and is currently at Eastern completing final outfitting, regulatory and DP-2 trials. Delivery of the HOS Renaissance is scheduled for November 2013.

Leevac Wins HOS Shipbuilding Contract
Leevac Shipyards Jennings LLC, of Jennings, LA, a subsidiary of Leevac Shipyards, LLC signed contracts with Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC, an affiliate of Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. (NYSE:HOS) of Covington, La., for the construction of two STX Marine SV 310 Multi-Purpose Supply Vessels; 302 x 76 x 26-ft,, 12,070 BHP diesel electric powered MPSVās. āThese will be the twenty-third and twenty-fourth vessels to be built by Leevac for Hornbeckā said Christian Vaccari, President and CEO of LEEVAC.
Valuable Shipbuilding & Repair Contracts Won by ST Engineering
Singapore Technologies Engineeringās Marine Sector wins S$179-million worth of shipbuilding and repair contracts. The contracts include a contract to build two additional Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) as well as a series of repair and upgrading projects. Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC (Hornbeck) has exercised the options for two additional OSVs valued at about S$111m (US$89m), to be built by the marine sectorās US shipyard, VT Halter Marine. These two new vessels are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2014 and first quarter of 2015. Based on VT Halter Marineās Super 320 design developed for Hornbeck, the DP2 OSVs are designed to have approximately 20,800 bbl of liquid mud carrying capability, 1,136sqm of deck area and a fire-fighting class notation.
