Volwater Takes the Helm at C-Job Naval Architects

Ship design and engineering company C-Job Naval Architects on Thursday announced changes to its executive team. Job Volwater will move from his position as Chief Commercial Officer and take on the position of Chief Executive Officer. He takes over from Basjan Faber, who will take up the position of Chief Financial Officer at the company.Faber and Volwater founded C-Job Naval Architects in 2007. Volwater was previously in the position of CEO until 2017 when he took a leave of absence to take the role of Sailing Team Director for Team AkzoNobel in the Volvo Ocean Race.

Dutch Test Barriers to Prevent Ships from Hitting Wind Turbines

Eneti to Raise $200M for WTIV Construction via Share Sale

Offshore wind turbine installation firm Eneti plans to raise $200 million through a public offering of shares. It will use the funds raised to fund wind turbine installation vessel newbuilding program consisting of one contracted newbuilding vessel, one optional newbuilding vessel, and one proposed Jones Act compliant newbuilding vessel. Eneti Orders $330M Wind Turbine Installation Vessel. Eyes U.S. Offshore Wind Market, Too

Offshore wind installation company Eneti Inc, until recently known as Scorpio Bulkers, has entered into a binding agreement for the construction of one Wind Turbine Installation Vessel. The vessel will be built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.The company also said it was in talks to build another offshore wind installation vessel for the U.S. offshore wind market.As for the first vessel, ordered from DSME, it will cost $330 million and the vessel will be delivered in early Q3,  2024.

Scorpio Bulkers Plans to Buy Wind Turbine Installation Vessel

Dry bulk shipowner Scorpio Bulkers on Monday announced it has signed a letter of intent to purchase a newbuild wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) as a “first step in a transition towards a sustainable business in renewable energy”.Scorpio said it expects to sign a $265-$290 million shipbuilding contract with South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in the fourth quarter of 2020. Offshore Test of New Installation Technology Successful

The Carbon Trust and Fistuca, in conjunction with industry partners announced the successful completion of the offshore trial of the Fistuca BLUE 25M hammer as part of the Offshore Wind Accelerator BLUE PILOT project.The industry partners include E.ON, EDPR,  EnBW, Equinor, Ørsted, Shell, Sif, SSE, Van Oord, and Vattenfall. The offshore test was carried out on August 13, 2018, using Van Oord’s offshore heavy lift installation vessel, Svanen, off the coast of the Netherlands.The BLUE Hammer is an innovative, new hammer utilizing a large water tank to provide a more energetic, but quieter blow for offshore installation. It is designed to reduce underwater noise levels by up to 20 dB (SEL), and is predicted to reduce the fatigue damage during installation on the pile by up to 90 percent.

Jumbo Orders LNG-powered Heavy Lift Ship

Dutch transportation and installation contractor Jumbo said it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with shipbuilder China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMIH) for the construction of a new heavy lift crane vessel (HLCV) scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2020. The DP2 vessel will feature dual fuel engines capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG), and will be built to serve the offshore wind and the offshore oil and gas industries. “Despite the current offshore climate, we are committing to this industry long term,” said Jumbo managing director, Michael Kahn.

Huisman said it is about to deliver the first crane built and tested at its production facility in Navegantes, Santa Catarina state, in the south of Brazil. Two High-tech SSCVs Ordered in China

Holding OOS International Group B.V. confirms it has signed a fixed contract for the engineering and construction of two new build Semi-Submersible Crane Vessels (SSCV) with China Merchant Industry Holdings, a fully owned subsidiary of the China Merchant Group. “OOS took a quantum leap within the oil and gas/wind Industry,” said Léon Overdulve, Founder and owner of Holding OOS International Group B.V. OOS will equip its two new SSCVs named OOS Serooskerke and OOS Walcheren with two heavy lift cranes, with a total dual lifting capacity of 4,400T per vessel.

Huisman Opens Production Facility in Brazil

Huisman officially opened its new production facility in Navegantes, Santa Catarina state, in the south of Brazil on Thursday, April 16. The facility is used for the manufacturing of offshore equipment for the Brazilian market. Heerema Signs LOI with Jurong Shipyard for Giant Crane Vessel

Dutch offshore contractor Heerema Offshore Services has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong Shipyard in Singapore for the construction of the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV). The vessel will be equipped with two cranes, each with 10,000-tonne lifting capacity, designed and built by Netherlands-based Huisman Equipment. The cranes designed and under construction by Huisman Equipment, will provide heavy lifting capacity to install and remove offshore facilities and can also be utilized for the installation of subsea structures, foundations, moorings, and floating structures in deep water. The cranes will be used to install subsea structures, foundations, moorings, and floating structures in deepwater.

Grupo CBO Selects Huisman Winch Packages

In January 2015, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, and Brazilian shipping company and shipyard group Grupo CBO, signed a contract for the delivery of four anchor handling and towing winch packages for four new Havyard 843 AHTS vessels. The winch packages will be built by Huisman’s new production facility in Navegantes, Brazil, and delivery is planned for 2016 and 2017. The winches will be delivered with 50% Brazilian content. The Havyard designed 843 AHTS vessels will be built by Estaleiro Aliança (2x) and Estaleiro Oceana (2x).

Huisman to Build World’s Largest Cranes

Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has received a Letter of Intent for the delivery of world’s largest cranes onboardHeerema’s planned new semi-submersible crane vessel.The cranes will have a lifting capacity of 10.000mt at a radius of 48m. Yesterday, the installation of the 3,000mt Offshore Mast Crane onboard the Lewek Constellation was completed by means of Huisman China’s new 2,400mt quayside crane. The quayside crane, also known as the Skyhook, installed the 3,000mt Offshore Mast Crane in a mere two lifts within a three day period. Huisman Brazil Receives First Order

Huisman, one of the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has received a first order for their new production facility in Brazil. The new order includes three sets of five cranes, which will be manufactured as soon as construction of the Brazilian production facility is completed in 2014. The sets of cranes are scheduled for delivery between Q3 2015 and Q1 2017. The order includes three identical sets of cranes for the new build vessels Cassino, Curumim and Salinas.

Pipe-laying equipment from the Dutch company Huisman Equipment has been ordered by Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven for CEONA's new ship. Work has started at Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven AG on the multi-functional offshore construction vessel and pipelaying platform Ceona Amazon for London-based shipping company Ceona. The 33,000 gt DP2-equiipped newbuilding, 199.4 m long, 32.2 m wide and drawing 7.5 m, will be part of a new generation of vessels in the Ceona fleet, and she is due to enter service in late 2014.
