Bureau Veritas Class First Bangladesh-Built Ferry

Leading international classification society Bureau Veritas has classed the first passenger ferry built in Bangladesh for a Danish owner and operation in Danish waters. The 147-passenger Isefjord was built by Western Marine Shipyard Limited in Chittagong, Bangladesh and delivered to Danish operator Hundested  Rorvig  Faergefart A/S in February. The vessel meets all Danish Maritime Authority requirements and will fly the Danish flag. The vessel is a 51-meter-long double-ended ferry equipped to carry up to 147 passengers and 28 vehicles.

A short-sea trade RoRo passenger ship built by Western Marine Shipyard Ltd., is the most advanced built in the yard so far. This is the first time Bangladesh has exported a passenger ship to the European market, in compliance with the highest standards of  modern technology & safety. Isefjord waas built for Danish owner Hundested Rorvig Faergefart to carry 147 passengers & 28 units of vehicle on a Danish coastal route. She is a fully-automated vessel constructed under class Bureau Veritas rules…

Bangladesh Shipyard Launches Danish RoRo Ferry

Western Marine Shipyard has launched the 50 m long ferry Isef Jord a Danish roll-on-roll-off passenger ferry, constructed under the supervision of classification society Bureau Veritas. The ship will be owned by Danish ferry operator Hundested Rorvig Faergefart. The contract for the ship is worth more than BDT 36 crore. Denmark has a huge global fame in building the best quality ferries. In-fact, several inland ferries being used in Bangladesh were imported from Denmark, but now the tables have been turned, and from now on, Bangladesh is going to export ferries to Denmark.
