U.S. shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Inc. has been awarded a $61,315,248 cost-plus-fixed fee modification to a previously awarded contract for additional material and labor supporting planning and the preliminary accomplishment of the post-shakedown availability/selected restricted availability (PSA/SRA) on USS Gerald R. HII Wins $9.9m Navy Contract

Huntington Ingalls Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi, is being awarded a $9,999,010 cost-plus-award fee contract modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-12-C-4323) to provide level of effort funding for CG modernization program design services. The contract is for planning yard services for CG-47 class cruisers. U.S. Navy Awards Contracts for FFG(X) Conceptual Design

The Navy awarded five (5) Conceptual Design (CD) contracts for the Guided Missile Frigate (FFG(X)). The contracts based on these requirements will facilitate maturing multiple designs during the 16 months of the Conceptual Design phase, and will allow the Navy to better understand the cost and capability drivers across the various design options. Furthermore, this will inform the final specifications for a full and open competition with a single source award in FY20 for Detail Design and Construction (DD&C) of the FFG(X). The entrance criteria for the Conceptual Design phase is that offerors must have a parent design that has been demonstrated at sea and must already be paired with a domestic shipyard for potential production, which will reduce the necessary development timeline.

USCG Awards Polar Icebreaker Contracts

The U.S. Coast Guard awarded five firm fixed-price contracts for heavy polar icebreaker design studies and analysis Wednesday. The contracts were awarded to the following recipients: Bollinger Shipyards, LLC, Lockport, Louisiana; Fincantieri Marine Group, LLC, Washington, District of Columbia; General Dynamics/National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, San Diego, California; Huntington Ingalls, Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi; and VT Halter Marine, Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi. The combined total value of the awards is approximately $20 million.

HII Awarded USS Ronald Reagan Contract Modification

The US Department of Defense informs that Huntington Ingalls Inc., Coronado, California, is being awarded a $24,230,190 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-award-fee contract (N00024-13-C-4315) for USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) fiscal 2014 planned incremental availability. DoD explains that a planned incremental availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship's military and technical capabilities. Work will be performed in Coronado, California, and is expected to be completed by April 2015. Fiscal 2014 operations and maintenance (Navy) funding in the amount of $10,470,296 will be obligated at time of award and will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

U.S. Navy Contracts Update

The U.S. The Navy is modifying the total amount of a previously awarded contract to Huntington Ingalls Inc, Newport News, Va., (N00024-09-C-2116) by $407,408,093 in order to extend construction preparation efforts and provide the ability to procure additional long lead material and advance construction activities for CVN 79 if required. The current contract has been in place since 2009. This modification for additional long lead material and advance construction activity may help preserve the construction schedule. Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to complete by October 2015. Additional funding is not being obligated at this time. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

New Navy Contracts

Huntington Ingalls, Inc., Pascagoula, Miss., is being awarded a fixed-price-incentive contract for DDG 113 construction, engineering change proposals, and design budgeting requirements.
