Optimarin Acquires Hyde Marine Business from De Nora

Optimarin AS, a Norwegian supplier of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS), announced it has agreed to acquire the Hyde Marine UV business from the Italian multinational Industrie De Nora S.p.A.

De Nora Acquires Hyde Marine

De Nora said it has acquired Calgon Carbon Corporation's UV Technologies Division (CCUV), including the products, brands and assets of UV ballast water management systems (BWMS) manufacturer Hyde Marine as well as municipal and industrial water treatment brands RAYOX, SENTINEL and C3 SERIES UV.The acquisition was signed on June 7 and is expected to close on July 1, De Nora said.By combining De Nora BALPURE electrolytic disinfection (EC) BWMS and the Hyde Marine ultra-violet (UV) Hyde GUARDIAN BWMS, De Nora will offer both UV and EC BWMS over a full range of flows.

Hyde Marine BWTS Secures USCG Type Approval

The U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Center issued the 30th U.S. Coast Guard Ballast Water Management System Type Approval Certificate to Hyde Marine, Inc., after a detailed review of the manufacturer’s type approval applications determined the systems met the requirements of 46 CFR 162.060.The treatment principle of the GUARDIAN-US consists of filtration and UV treatment at intake and UV treatment at discharge. This approval covers models with maximum intake treatment rated capacities between 60 m 3 /h and 3,000 m 3 /h.

The Ballast Water Management Conundrum

U.S. Ten years on, there’s little certain about ballast water management regulations that the industry can chart a course around other than that it will be expensive – possibly the most costly marine retrofit to date. With install estimates running from $500,000 to as much as $5 million per vessel, across some 68,000 commercial ships estimated by the IMO to transfer 7 billion tons of  ballast water annually – industry players say we could be looking at as much as an $80 billion market. Eventually, that is, because there is not a lot of activity right now.

Hyde Marine to Implement NIOZ System Testing

Hyde Marine, Goltens Enter Engineering Agreement

Hyde Marine, Inc., announced today it has launched an agreement with Goltens Green Technologies division to help shipowners determine how to best fit the chemical free Hyde GUARDIAN Gold Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) onto its existing vessels. Hyde Marine Makes BWTS Installation Agreements

Hyde Marine is partnering with Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) for installation of the Hyde GUARDIAN Gold BWTS, for vessels docking at the yard. GBS, based in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, is one of the largest ship repair companies in the region with three floating docks for the drydocking and repair of all types of oceangoing vessels, and all the necessary support services required to perform complex repair, upgrade and conversion projects. SeaKing Electrical Strikes Transatlantic Service Agreement

Merseyside based SeaKing Electrical has secured a transatlantic service agreement with a manufacturer of green technology for the maritime sector. The Birkenhead and Aberdeen business will be supporting Hyde Marine Inc. with its delivery of Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS). Hyde Marine is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S., where the company designs and manufactures the Hyde Guardian GoldTM BWTS that combines efficient filtration and Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection of seawater. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange listed Calgon Carbon Corporation (NYSE: CCC). Hyde Posts Record Delivery, Commissioning and Sales

Hyde Marine & Cammel Laird in BWTS Link Up

Calgon Carbon Corporation subsiduary Hyde Marine, Inc., has established a partnership agreement with Cammell Laird, the largest shipyard in the United Kingdom, for installation of the chemical free Hyde GUARDIAN® (HG) Ballast Water Treatment (BWTS) System. Cammell Laird had previously been tapped by the Royal Navy–Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) for installation of Hyde GUARDIAN systems ranging from 150m3/hr to 1000m3/hr onto five naval vessels.
