HHI Projects a Revenue of $15.9Bn in 2020

HHI Wins $293M Newbuild Order

NYK Fixes Newbuild LNG Carrier with Edison

TOP Ships Concludes Suezmax Financing

TOP Ships, an international owner and operator of modern, fuel efficient “ECO” tanker vessels currently focusing on the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products, announced that it has concluded Financing Agreements with a major Chinese leasing company, via sale and leaseback transactions of up to $92.5 million for its Suezmax newbuilding vessels with hull numbers 874 and 875, currently under construction at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in South Korea. The company also announced that it has increased the maximum borrowing capacity of the Family Trading Credit Facility to $25.0 million and that it has drawn down an additional $5.0 million from the Company’s outstanding loan facilities.

Offshore marine and engineering consultancy Aqualis Offshore, part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA, said it has been contracted by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Rosneft, Hyundai Samho Strengthen Technological Cooperation

Rosneft and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (HSHI) signed an agreement under which the South Korean company will provide technical support in the design and construction of Aframax class vessels at the Zvezda shipyard in Bolshoy Kamen. The agreement is a legally binding document. The document was signed as a part of the development of the agreement, under which a joint venture "Zvezda-Hyundai" was established  in May 2017 between Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda and HSHI in the field of engineering and project management.

Bahri Signs $350 mln Islamic Finance Deal for Oil Tankers

National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), the exclusive oil-shipper for Saudi Aramco, said on Wednesday it had signed a $350 million Islamic 10-year financing deal to pay for the building of five oil tankers. The 10-year murahaba financing was arranged by Standard Chartered, which also contributed to the deal along with Arab National Bank and National Bank of Abu Dhabi, it said. A murabaha is a cost-plus-profit arrangement which complies with Islamic finance standards. The tankers were previously ordered from South Korea's Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Two VLCCs Delivered to Gener8 Maritime

Gener8 Maritime, Inc., a U.S.-based provider of international seaborne crude oil transportation services, announced that it took delivery of two very large crude carriers (VLCC).   The Gener8 Perseus was delivered September 9, 2016 from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and the Gener8 Oceanus on September 12, 2016 from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Upon delivery, both tankers entered Navig8 Group's VL8 Pool.   The two new tankers represent vessels 14 and 15 of 21 "ECO" VLCCs ordered for the Gener8 Maritime fleet. The shipper has on order four more VLCCs anticipated for delivery in 2016 and two for 2017.

The Neopanamax vessel will make the inaugural transit of the Expanded Panama Canal on Sunday, June 26, after a 14-day journey. Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano met with COSCO Shipping Panama’s Captain Jude Rodrigues and crew members prior to the ship’s departure. “I am very excited to be here today to witness the sailing of the ship from Greece, but also meet the Captain and his crew,” said Administrator Quijano.

Chinese Shipyard in Fifth Place for First Time

According to UK-based Clarkson Research Services, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) had an order backlog in November of just over three million compensated gross tons  (CGTs), an indicator of the level of shipbuilding ouput. That puts the Chinese  shipbuilder in fifth place by order backlog in November, posing a threat to South Korean shipyards which had been dominating the top five list for years. SWS had an order backlog of 3.03 million CGTs as of end-November, beating South Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. that held 2.84 million CGTs, says a report in Yonhap.

Hyundai Sees Mega Ships Leading Global Demand

As the demand for mega vessels has increased, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. expects mega- sized container ships to lead global orders until early next year as shipping companies seek ways to cut costs, reports Bloomberg. Hyundai Heavy is the world’s biggest shipbuilder. Ka Sam Hyun, a senior executive vice president in charge of ship sales at Hyundai Heavy said his company could win orders for as many as 11 vessels in July along with its unit its Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Ka Sam said that the shipping lines won’t be able to survive if they can’t bring down their unit costs.

Teekay, BP Enter Deal for Newbuild LNG Tankers

Teekay LNG Partners L.P. announced that it has entered into a 13-year time-charter contract with BP Shipping Limited (BP) for one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier newbuilding, plus an option exercisable by BP by the end of the third quarter of 2015 for one additional LNG carrier under similar terms. Offshore Shipbuilding Demand Prompts HHI Design Expansion

Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to establish a new ship design subsidiary early next year by expanding its Mipo Engineering Co, reports Yonhap News Agency. Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to establish a new ship design subsidiary early next year by expanding its Mipo Engineering Co, reports Yonhap. Growing demands for high-end ships such as drill ships and offshore plants prodded Hyundai Heavy to set up the new company, the shipbuilder informed Yonhap. Mipo Engineering will be incorporated into Hyundai E&T, which will be financed by Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Hyundai Heavy plans to increase the number of ship designers to 1,600 by 2018 from the current 350, and the number of employees in the ship inspection sector to about 400.
