Deutz Buying Binge Continues

In the wake of its acquisition of the electric drive specialist Torqeedo GmbH, Deutz announced today that it will acquire IML Motori, an Italian sales and service partner based in Lomagna near Milan, a move which simultaneously strengthens its presence in Italy and gives the company market penetration in the service segment. The subsidiary IML Service and the Romanian sales and service company IML Motoare also form part of the acquisition. Deutz is looking to drive growth in its profitable service business and increase its proximity to customers in the Mediterranean.

GE to Power Offshore Platform Supply Vessels

GE Marine announces that it will supply IML Power, , with eight V228 medium-speed diesel engines. The 16-cylinder engines will power four new, UT755L-type offshore platform supply vessels. IML Power is an authorized distributor of GE diesel engines and services in . The vessels will be constructed by Rosetti Marino S.p.A. Each of the four new ships will be powered by two 16V228 engines, each rated at 2790 kilowatts (kW) at 955 rpm. The engines will be manufactured at GE’s state-of-the-art , facility.

GE to Provide Diesel Engines for PSVs

GE Transportation’s marine business announced it will supply IML Motori S.p.A., Lomagna, Italy, with four medium-speed diesel engines. GE reported today at the SMM Conference that the engines will be used to power two UT755 L-type platform supply vessels being built by Rossetti Marino, Ravenna, Italy. Over the past several years, GE has dedicated significant resources to greatly expand its distribution worldwide network. Currently 34 authorized service and distribution centers are located in North America, Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East. These partnerships offer customers easy and timely access to GE parts and service capabilities.
