Volvo Penta announced Northern Offshore Services (N-O-S) will be the first to deploy its new IPS Professional Platform, lining up installs on newbuild crew transfer vessels (CTV) slated to set sail in the second half of 2024.Volvo Penta's newly launched propulsion offering, an evolution of its proven Inboard Performance System (IPS) solution, is designed with a dual power input concept that enables the utilization of different combinations of power sources from combustion engines running on renewable fuels to fully electric or hybrid solutions.

Danish operator Hovedstadens Beredskab (HBR)—part of the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department Association— recently commissioned the build of HBR 1 Copenhagen, a full cabin multi-response vessel that can sail under all weather conditions. Pacific Marine Power is now providing the full range of Volvo Penta diesel and gasoline marine engines, generator sets, and controls to customers throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, the company announced today. The Swedish Coast Guard is to install Volvo Penta’s Inboard Performance System (IPS) in a new type of vessel for sea rescue and border control. Using the IPS system, the Coast Guard is targeting to reduce the fuel consumption of the new vessels by about 30%. The drives were chose for the five new KBV 312 vessels that will be used for surveillance, border control, fishing control, sea rescue and safety at sea activities. The order to Volvo Penta consists of a total of 15 complete IPS systems.
