Marioff Launches New HI-FOG Electric Pump Unit

Marioff Corporation Oy has announcd the launch of a new HI-FOG Electric Pump Unit (EPU) for the high-pressure water mist fire suppression segment. Incorporating closed loop pressure control, the EPU revolutionizes pumping technology for high-pressure water mist technology. Marioff, a  developer of the water mist fire protection technology, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. The EPU’s advanced control system ensures that the pump unit provides only the required pressure and flow.

When she came into the Fred Wahl shipyard in Reedsport, Oregon, the Miss Berdie was a fine looking boat with a bright red hull. When she left the yard this summer she was still a fine looking red vessel but bigger and better. After taking the 77 by 27.8 by 11.5-foot boat apart, the crew at Fred Wahl’s, working with a design by Hockema & Whalen Associates, put her back together with a 39-foot beam, a 12.7-foot molded depth and an overall registered length of 80.8 feet. The engines build on a long tradition of amazing power packages that share both technology and architecture with Scania's truck and bus engines. This makes for exceptional performance.

ABB to Buy UK's Dynamotive Ltd.

ABB to acquire the Coalville, UK-based manufacturer of  drives, controls and motors for industrial and marine applications & automotive test rigs. Dynamotive has about 40 employees and is privately owned. ABB says its owners will continue to work for them. “The acquisition of Dynamotive will enable ABB to expand its service operations including upgrade and retrofit capabilities in low and medium voltage drives. Furthermore, it will help ABB to increase its sales of complete industrial motion packages, which include drives, motors, controls and related services,” said Pekka Tiitinen, head of ABB's Drives and Controls business unit. Dynamotive will be integrated into ABB’s Drives and Controls business unit, led in the UK by Neil Ritchie.
