Thales to Equip Polish Navy's MIECZNIK Frigates with Combat Management System and Sensors

Thales said Thursday it would equip the Polish Navy MIECZNIK (Swordfish) frigates with the TACTICOS combat management system, sonars, infrared sensor, and radars, providing the warships with multiple functions for detection, identification, command and control, and decision-making. Infrared Systems Protect UK Navy Ships at Sea

International manufacturer of panoramic infrared thermal imaging systems HGH Infrared Systems was selected by the British Navy to incorporate its Spynel-S 3500 into an integrated Compact Combat System (C2S) for situational awareness and ship-based protection against small fast inshore attack crafts (FIACs). South Texas Coast Guard Receives Response Boat

U.S. Coast Guard crews at Station South Padre Island have completed the qualification and trial run process, Tuesday, for the new 45-foot-Response Boat-Medium that was delivered to the station in late February. The training focused on acclimating the crews to the boat's advanced response capabilities. With twin diesel engines using water-jet propulsion, the RB-M can respond faster than previous boats of similar size and has a top speed in excess of 40 knots. It has advanced search capability with an installed forward-looking infrared search technology. Additionally, with twin jet propulsion, the vessel is extremely maneuverable and is better suited to respond to mariners in distress and law enforcement operations.

New USCG Response Boat Delivered in Ohio

The crew of U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Station Marblehead, Ohio, officially accepted delivery Thursday of the station’s second 45-foot response boat, doubling the rescue capability of Ohio-based Coast Guard station, the USCG said. The response boat, uilt by Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wis., will increase the ability of Station Marblehead’s crew to respond to search-and-rescue cases by augmenting its current complement of one 45-foot response boat, two 25-foot response boats, one 20-foot airboat and one inflatable rescue craft.

New Lake Erie Coast Guard Boat on Show

The crew of Coast Guard Station Lorain show their new Response Boat-Medium to press and public at their Lake Erie station. Crew members say they have have been running tests on Lake Erie and have found that the RB-M responds faster than previous boats of similar size, with a top speed in excess of 40 knots. It also is equipped with advanced search capability, including forward-looking infrared search technology. It can handle waves up to 12 feet and can carry as many as 25 people.

The crew of Coast Guard Station Port Huron, Mich., began training on the station's new 45-foot Response-Boat-Medium, Monday after taking possession of the boat last Thursday. The RB-M can respond faster than previous boats of similar size with a top speed in excess of 40 knots, has advanced search capability with an installed forward-looking infrared search technology, the Coast Guard said. BAE Systems Mast Modules Ready for LHD

Mast modules for the 27,000 tonne Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD), fabricated and constructed at BAE Systems Henderson, facility are now completed and ready to be transported to Melbourne. The three mast modules weighing between 19 and 36 tonnes will form part of the superstructure of the LHDs and will house equipment including communication and combat systems, navigation and air traffic control radars and infrared search and track sensors. The mast modules will be loaded onto the heavy lift ship Henan Scan berthed at BAE Systems wharf at their Henderson load-out facility.
