Maersk Adds APM in Logistics Division

A.P. Moller - Maersk said it will integrate APM Terminals' Inland Services division into Maersk's Logistics and Services division beginning August, providing customers with seamless access to a wider range of logistics & services offerings."This is a next step for A.P. APM Intros GOH Service in India

The Indian Container Services Division of APM Terminals Inland Services said that its specialised service that allows clothing manufacturers to ship garments on hangers (GOH) helped cater to leading global apparel brands.APM Terminals Inland Services fabricates and modifies standard dry shipping containers, enabling them to conveniently carry coats, dresses, jackets and blazers and any other clothing necessary. As a result, for example, in a 20 feet container, approximately 5,000 womenā€™s coats can be placed.ā€œIt is an efficient and dust and wrinkle-free method of transportation for the clothing industry as it keeps the garments protected and in a hanging format - cutting down on multiple post receipt activities under the traditional approachā€¦

CMA CGM Bundles Multimodal Transport

APM Terminals Pushes Solar Energy in India

South Asia's APM Terminals Inland Services, operator of port and integrated inland service networks, is helping set up solar power plants in deep pockets of India.The global terminal network company is providing tailor-made logistics solutions to help overcome transport, technical and procedural challenges.The company is now offering a new end-to-end solution for major solar projects, which includes receiving cargo at the sea-port, facilitating customs inspection and clearance, multi-modal transportation to reach these isolated areas and destuffing at the site.ā€œBack in 2015, solar power was just beginning to catch everybody's attention and imports from China were picking up at a tremendous pace.

APM Costa Rica Enhances Reefer Services

APM Terminals Inland Services in Costa Rica has worked closely with one of the worldā€™s largest producers and exporters of tropical fruit.The Hague-based international container terminal operating company  said in a press release that among other things, the solution has helped optimize the flow of containers to fruit plantations on the Caribbean coast, increase efficiency and lower reefer inventory.With a large number of refrigerated containers (reefers) being shipped to global markets by Costa Rican tropical fruit exporters, the challenge is finding a cost-effective way of getting them back to the farmer to start their cycle again.Many of the reefer containers are shipped back as non-operating reefers (NORs).

APM Terminals Ecuador Upgrades

To address rapid increases in volumes APM Terminals Inland Services Ecuador introduced an accurate and reliable Truck Appointment System (TAS).This approach has already proved itself at other APM Terminalsā€™ facilities, including neighbouring Peru. The system allows for much better co-ordination of arrivals and departures leading to significantly shorter wait times for trucks.The system now allows truck arrivals at the facility to be spread evenly throughout the day with a truck turnaround time of just 45 minutes. Containers are arriving faster, reducing the risk of produce damage and truckers are improving their fleet utilisation."The visibility provided by the system also results in better yard planningā€¦

APM Mulls Greenfield Terminal in Bangkok

The Hague-headquartered international container terminal operating company APM Terminals has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sahathai Terminal PLC (PORT) and Mitr Phol Sugar to develop a 345,000 TEU capacity greenfield container terminal in Bangkok, Thailand.According to a press release,  Bangkok River Terminal Limited (BRT) will accommodate Thailandā€™s rapidly-growing containerized import and export trade.Sahathai Terminal PLC (PORT), Thailandā€™s leading container terminal and logistics company formed a Joint Venture with Mitr Phol Sugar to develop this Container Terminal in October 2018. With over 35-yearsā€™ experience in Thailand with container operations in Lat Krabang and Laem Chabang, APM Terminalsā€™ participation will further strengthen the joint venture.

At APM Terminals' inland services facilities in San Antonio and Santiago, Chile, safety supervisors previously monitored activities on the ground. APM Terminals India Becomes Authorized Economic Operator

APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd became one of Indiaā€™s first Inland Service providers to receive the internationally recognized security standard, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) from the World Customs Organization. The aim of the AEO program is to prevent unlawful trade across borders and facilitate legitimate trade designates. The AEO certification acknowledges APM Terminals India Pvt. APM Terminals Uruguay Inches to Zero Carbon Emissions

APM Terminals Inland Services Uruguay (also known as Montevideo Port Services SA) switched on 648 solar panels this month, capable of producing 228.6 MWh per year, enough to meet up to 90 percent of the facilities entire annual consumption.By switching to their own renewable energy source, Inland Services Uruguay, the largest equipment maintenance and repair provider in the country, will reduce its CO2 emissions by almost 50 tonnes per year. To put this in perspective, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency it would take around 1,300 seedling trees 10 years to absorb this amount of CO2.As a result of the projectā€¦

APM Terminals Signs MoU with Ghana

The construction of the new port and logistics hub in Tema will have huge benefits for the Ghanaian economy and the livelihoods of Ghanaian people when opened in 2019. APM Terminals Inland Services Expands in Pune, India

APM Terminals Inland Services inaugurated its new state-of-the-art Inland Container Depot and supply chain solutions facility designed to serve one of Indiaā€™s fastest-growing hubs for industrial development and manufacturing in the Pune district in Maharashtra state. The new facility, which is over 12 acres in area, can handle more than 60,000 containers annually. Services include Customs clearance, bonded and non-bonded warehousing, empty container acceptance, transportation solutions and container repairs which are typically offered near ports.The facility is located 150 kilometers inland from Mumbai. APM Terminals Sells Paranagua Port Stake

APM Terminals announced the sale of its 5% share in Terminal de Contêineres de Paranaguá (TCP) to China Merchants Port Holdings. The share sale was initiated and led by Advent, who is the controlling shareholder of TCP. Price and terms were not disclosed and the share sale is subject to the normal reviews and condition precedents. In March 2016, APM Terminals had acquired the 5% share in TCP as part of the Grup Maritim TCB acquisition. In Brazil, APM Terminals maintains a strong port and landside offering to supply chains with ports in Itajai, Pecem and Santos that are integrated with inland services in Itajaí, Itapúa and Paranagua.

APM Terminals, Volvo Ink Chennai Warehouse Deal

APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia has signed an exclusive agreement with Gothenburg, Sweden-based Volvo Cars to provide a dedicated, specialized warehouse facility in Chennai. The customized warehouse will provide an integrated Inland Services solution for the Volvo Completely Built Up Units (CBUs) imported from Europe to India through the Port of Chennai. The 102,000 square foot facility will include bonded and non-bonded areas with an overall capacity of 500 vehicles. APM Terminals Graduates MAGNUM Class

APM Terminals has graduated another 19 competitively selected managers from across the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network from the MAGNUM accelerated leadership training program at a formal ceremony in The Hague. Members of this yearā€™s class represented 16 countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Divided into four modules, specific training segments took place in Switzerland, The Netherlands, Brazil, and a combined session split between Ghana and India. Global Safety Day Celebrations at APM Terminals

Under the theme ā€˜Safe for you, Safe for meā€™, APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia celebrated Global Safety Day on 28 th April with emphasis on raising awareness on the importance of risk management among employees, contractors and external stakeholders. Participative presentations, skits, contests and activities were conducted across its Container Freight Stations, Empty depots and Container Maintenance & Repair Centers at multiple locations in Mumbai, Dadri, Chennai, Kochi and Tuticorin. Safety and management of risks related to people, cargo and environment were the key messages delivered to over 1300 own and contract professionals, Custom House Agents, Freight Forwarders and their children who participated in the event.

NVOCCs Form US-South-Africa Partnership

CaroTrans, a global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator, has entered a partnership with Thrutainers International, an established NVOCC in South Africa. This cooperation creates a U.S.- Sub-Saharan Africa import/export LCL service network in this important trade lane. In 2016, Sub-Saharan Africa is forecasted to have a 3.5 percent GDP increase over 2015, the U.S. a 2.3 percent increase in GDP (Economist Intelligence Unit). Established in 1978, Thrutainers offers a national footprint within South Africa including container freight stations (CFS), multimodal inland services, and warehousing and distribution.

CMA CGM Opens 3CTC Terminal

The CMA CGM Group inaugurated its new logistics platform, the 3CTC Terminal (CMA CGM Cameroon Container Terminal), on February 19, 2015. The 3CTC platform has been operational since January 7, 2015, and its concession attributed for 25 years. It is located in an area between Douala and the port, where it occupies two hectares. With this new platform, the CMA CGM Group offers its clients a range of logistics solutions, including full and/or empty containers storage in a 1,200 square meters secured area and merchandises land transportation in Cameroon, Chad and Central African Republic.

APM Terminals Organizes CSR Initiatives Under ā€˜I - Careā€™

APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia continues to rollout its ā€œI- Careā€ CSR master plan to help local communities in India improve their quality of life. Eye and Vision Care camps were established to help improve the lives of people located next to APM Terminals Inland Services facilitiesā€“ these included contract workers, truck drivers, custom house agents, customers, local communities and other stakeholders. The camps performed check-ups, prescribed lenses, made referrals for further diagnosis and distributed glasses free of cost. This initiative impacted over 1000 lives with nearly 450 new prescriptions and free eyeglasses, and a number of cataracts diagnosed.

APM Terminals Q2 2014 Profit, Volume Growth

In its second quarter ended 30, June 2014 APM Terminals reports increases in both profits and container volume throughput. AgreementreachedtodivestAPMTerminals Virginia, Portsmouth, USA with an expected completion during Q3. APM Terminals delivered an increased profit of USD 223m (USD 179m) in Q2, driven by a strong volume growth of 8% with new terminals contributing by 2%. Additions to the network came mainly from the acquisition of NCC Group Limited by Global Ports Investments PLC, Russia in 2013 and ramp-up in the jointly owned Brasil Terminal Portuario in Santos, Brazil. Revenue increased by 6% to USD 1.1bn, reflecting the growthā€¦
