Mitsubishi Shipbuilding and INPEX Complete Ammonia Bunkering Vessel Study

Flowserve Inks Deal for Prelude FLNG

Flowserve Corporation (FLS), a provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, has entered into a five-year contract with Shell Australia to provide general maintenance services for Shell’s Prelude Floating Liquified Natural Gas (FLNG) facility, which is producing natural gas from an offshore field in Western Australia.A press release from the American multinational corporation said that it will support Prelude from its recently refurbished Quick Response Center (QRC) in Darwin, the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory.Flowserve QRCs are dedicated maintenance, repair and manufacturing workshop facilities that provide customers with responsive, local support.

Inpex Submits Revised Indonesian LNG Plan

Japan's largest oil and gas exploration and production company Inpex Corporation has submitted a revised plan of development (POD) for the Abadi  LNG Project, a gas field on the remote Masela Block in the Arafura Sea off Indonesia. The revised POD is based on an onshore LNG development scheme with an annual LNG production capacity of 9.5 million tons. The Project involves developing the Abadi gas field in the Masela Block located in the Arafura Sea in Indonesia.The submission of the revised POD follows a series of dialogues between the authorities and Inpex, as the operator of the project on behalf of the Joint Venture (Inpex Masela and Shell Upstream Overseas) to secure the Project’s competitiveness through a Heads of Agreement (HOA) signed with authorities on June 16…

Oceanic Breeze Brings LNG to Japan

Japanese energy company INPEX Corporation announced that the LNG Tanker Oceanic Breeze called for the first time at INPEX’s Naoetsu LNG Terminal located in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.The tanker has delivered a cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG project in Australia.Oceanic Breeze is owned by Oceanic Breeze LNG Transport S. INPEX Selects NAPA for LNG Carrier Fleet

LNG REPORT: LNG Bunkering Vessels Rise to Nine, 30 More to Come

New LNG Carrier for Ichthys LNG Project Named

A new vessel built for carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Ichthys LNG Project in Darwin, Australia to Naoetsu, Niigata has been named at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) Nagasaki Shipyard. The LNG carrier was named Oceanic Breeze by Toshiaki Kitamura, President of INPEX Corporation (INPEX), whose fully owned subsidiary INPEX Shipping Co., Ltd. will time-charter the ship. Oceanic Breeze, owned by Oceanic Breeze LNG Transport S.A. (OBLT), a 30/70 joint venture between Inpex Shipping and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.

Will LNG Remain a Key Energy Source?

Japan imported 8.3 million metric tons of LNG in January, an increase of 1.06 million metric tons compared to the previous year. The data, released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance, also reveals that the amount the country pays for LNG imports had increased by 6.7 percent since 2015. Japan is one of the largest LNG importers in the world and it is expected that gas and LNG will continue to remain a key energy source in the future. Aurora LNG Submits Canada Export Bid

British Columbia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) proposal at Grassy Point near Prince Rupert has filed its export application with Canada's National Energy Board (NEB). "Aurora LNG is moving forward with their plans to export B.C.'s natural gas to new markets overseas," said Premier Christy Clark. "This marks another step towards realizing the transformative opportunity LNG presents us. "Filing an application for an export license is an important step," said Kevin Reinhart, CEO of Nexen. "However, we still have a lengthy process ahead of us before final investment decisions are made. Aurora LNG has filed its export application just over two weeks after signing a sole proponent agreement with the Province of British Columbia.

ABB Wins Third Ichthys FPSO Major Contract

ABB appointed main electrical contractor (MEC) for a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel at the Ichthys oil & gas field in the Timor Sea off Western Australia. The order is worth $30 million and was awarded by the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the FPSO, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. This is the third major contract that ABB has been awarded for the Ichthys oil and gas project. Recently ABB was awarded a $15 million order by Samsung Heavy Industries to be the MEC for the Ichthys central processing facility, which, when completed will be the largest offshore production facility in the world.

ABB appointed main electrical contractor for new semi-submersible central processing facility (CPF) at Ichthys oil & gas field in the Timor Sea off Western Australia. The order is valued at $15 million. ABB was awarded the MEC contract by the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the central processing facility, Samsung Heavy Industries. Technic Wins Another Ichthys LNG Contract

Technip wins INPEX CORPORATION commissioning contract worth approximately €210 million, for the Ichthys LNG Project in the Browse Basin, Western Australia. An integrated team will work on all activities related to the preparation and execution of the offshore commissioning for the floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit and the central processing facility. Technip Awarded Supply Contract for Australian Gas Field

Inpex Corporation awarded Technip a flexible pipe supply lump sum contract for the Ichthys gas field in Australia. Inpex has novated this contract to McDermott as part of the overall subsea umbilical, riser, flow line EPCI contract. The Ichthys LNG project is a Joint Venture between Inpex (76 percent, the Operator) and Total (24 percent). Gas from the Ichthys field, in the Browse Basin approximately 200 kilometers offshore Western Australia, will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The 889 kilometers Ichthys gas export pipeline will transport production from the offshore central processing facility through a subsea pipeline to the onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, to be located at Blaydin Point, Darwin, Northern Australia.
