Marine electronics manufacturer Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands, announced it has finalized an agreement to acquire marine monitoring and control systems provider Naviop. Providing the integration framework to capture data from all boating systems, Naviop creates a digital ecosystem on boats outfitted with Simrad, Lowrance and B&G marine electronics, with the multifunction display serving as the hub for complete system control and information. “For years, auto manufacturers have provided consumers with a complete integration solution at their fingertips, and we, as a marine industry have fallen behind the curve to provide the same level of convenience and control,” said Leif Ottosson, Navico CEO.

Raymarine Inc., a marine electronics supplier, announced the renewal of its long-standing Preferred Supplier of Choice agreement with the American Boatbuilders Association (ABA). Raymarine has been an ABA Preferred Supplier since 2002, providing members with high-performance multifunction displays, radars, echo sounders, autopilots, and VHF radios. The ongoing partnership with ABA demonstrates Raymarine’s ability to supply the equipment boaters need, and the quality they demand. Furuno USA introduced its latest innovation in integrated marine electronics, NavNet vx2. Since its release in 2001, Furuno’s NavNet1 series has been enjoying popularity worldwide for its high reliability, performance and expandability. NavNet1 uses an Ethernet based network to transfer information throughout the components. NavNet vx2 still utilizes an Ethernet network and even expands upon it to give you more options to connect and interact with a PC. Add multiple displays and components onto the network by simply adding an Ethernet Hub. NavNet vx2 gives the user their choice of cartography. Users can choose from a unit that accepts Navionics Gold XL3 charts or another model utilizing C-MapNT Max charts, both of which are now on Secure Digital (SD) cards.
