US Navy Awards Maintenance Contracts

The Pentagon last Friday announced that nine companies have been awarded contracts for repair, maintenance and modernization of U.S. Navy’s non-nuclear surface ships homeported or visiting the Northwest United States.The total value of the multiple award contract is a combined $944 million. The scope of work is for continuous maintenance, emergent maintenance, and Chief of Naval Operations availabilities, which are short-term or less than 10-months in duration.The nine companies are East Coast Repair & Fabrication…

Campbell Buys Assets of E Squared Marine

Campbell Transportation Company, Inc. (CTC), a fully integrated marine services company headquartered in Pennsylvania, announced Thursday that it has purchased the marine assets of Houston-based tank barge shipping company E Squared Marine Service, LLC.Campbell Transportation, which owns and/or manages a growing number of dry and liquid cargo barges and operates 50 towboats on the inland waterways system, said the acquisition is a step forward in its plan to grow by diversifying and expanding its current business into new and growing markets.This acquisition is a significant expansion of Campbell’s tank barge operations providing an operating and fleeting location in Houston.According to the E Squared Marine website…

Abu Dhabi Ports Clean the Ocean

Safeen, the provider of integrated marine services in the Middle East and subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, has collected over 120 tons of floating sea debris in Abu Dhabi waters last year, recycling more than ten tons of the collected material.Capt. MISC awards BV contract for Veristar AIM3D

Bureau Veritas (BV) has been awarded a contract by MISC Berhad (MISC) to deploy and support the VeristarAIM3D ‘software as a solution’ system to provide asset integrity services on selected MISC FPS systems:the Floating Storage & Offloading (FSO) vessel -FSO Benchama 2and the Floating Production, Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessels - MaMPU1 and FPSO Cendor. Veristar AIM3D is BV’s sophisticated, full life-cycle Asset Integrity Management System, developed in partnership with Dassault Systèmes. Released in April 2017, it incorporates a unique combination of 3D enabling a digital twin of assets with smart data processing, via a connected platform to enabledata collection, updates, visualization,and data processing – with clear visibility through dashboards.

Campbell CEO Stephaich Weighs in on All Things Inland

Peter H. Stephaich is Chairman and CEO of Blue Danube Incorporated and Campbell Transportation Company. Peter is also on the Board of Directors of Blue Danube, a position that he has held since 1982. Serving the barge industry for over 30 years in a number of key roles, he also counts among his many qualifications his tenure(s) as Past Chairman and Past Treasurer of the American Waterways Operators (AWO), Past Chairman and Trustee of the National Waterways Foundation, Vice Chairman and Executive Committee of Waterways Council (WCI) and as Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission.

IMS Announces New Client: Campbell Transportation

U.S. inland vessel management company Inland Marine Service (IMS) said it has taken on Campbell Transportation Company as its latest client. A fully integrated marine services company, Campbell is currently undergoing an acquisition with American Commercial Barge Line. Once completed, Campbell Transportation will own and/or manage more than 1,100 barges and 50 towboats on the inland waterways, along with four shipyard facilities and a marine construction company, moving over 60 million tons of product annually.

Gulf Navigation Sails to Profit

Dubai-based shipping company Gulf Navigation Holding  has reported a 39% growth in net profit at the end of the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016. The result came at a stage while the company is witnessing a significant improvement in its performance, successful settlement of legal cases and entering into various global partnerships to strengthen its competitive position in the marine sector. According to GULFNAV’s financial report, its net profit reached AED 8.8 million (USD 2.4 million) in the first Quarter of 2017 representing an increase of 39% as compared to AED 6.3 million (USD1.7 million) of the same period last year.

ASL Marine's Profits Plummet

Singapore-based ASL Marine's profits for the second quarter ended 31 December 2014 dived 78.4% year-on-year to SGD1.432 million (USD1.05 million). Revenue also plunged 86% year-on-year to SGD47.44m due mainly to a revenue reversal of SGD95m recognized in the previous financial years, following the rescission of two OSV shipbuilding contracts in December 2014. The company says its first half earnings slashed on account of the difficult market conditions in the offshore sector due to the sharp decline in oil prices. According to ASL Marine's filing to Singapore exchange (SGX), the company felt that the shipping sector has been negatively impacted by the depressed prices of bulk commodities and oil prices.

Damen Shoalbuster for Smit Lamnalco

The recently delivered SL Mbissi will be the next Damen-built vessel in fleet of Smit Lamnalco. Nonetheless, the 25-meter shallow water workship is special in more ways than one. Firstly, it’s the first-ever Damen Shoalbuster for Smit Lamnalco. Although Smit Lamnalco, a provider of integrated marine services, already deploys many Damen-built vessels – six of which having been delivered in the past 15 months alone – it had yet to order a Damen Shoalbuster SD. The series’ name is a poetic license to shallow draught (SD).

New Canadian Tugboat Protected with Ecospeed

When it came to the hull coating for its newest tug, the TundRA 100, the most powerful harbor tug ever to be built in Canada, Group Ocean chose Ecospeed, a nontoxic, hard, long-lasting coating with very high abrasion resistance, suited to tugs and to ice-going vessels of all types. Ocean began life as Aqua-Marine, founded by the company’s present President, Gordon Bain, in 1972 and specializing in underwater work. In 1987 the company evolved into Ocean Construction Inc. and acquired Québec Tugs, Ltd.

China's Pingtan to Buy 46 Fishing Vessels

Pingtan Marine Enterprise Ltd. an integrated marine services company providing territorial sea fishing and dredging services in the People's Republic of China (PRC), has expanded its fleet, signing of a 'Master Agreement' to purchase 46 fishing trawlers in a transaction totaling approximately $410.1 million. Singapore's ASL Marine Holdings Reports Increased 2012 Revenue

Total revenue for the Singapore-based group increased by 7.7% year-on-year to $391.2-million in financial year ended 30, June 2012. ASL Marine Holdings Ltd. is a vertically-integrated marine services group principally engaged in shipbuilding, shiprepair and conversion, shipchartering and other marine related services, catering to customers mainly from Asia Pacific, South Asia, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. Seismic Triplets for Mainport

East Malaysia’s Shin Yang Shipyard has begun construction of three new support vessels for Mainport. Located in Miri, Sarawak the Shin Yang Shipyard has developed an impressive record in the fabrication of sophisticated off shore vessels such as the anchor-handling tug Danem 19. Two of the new support vessels, the Mainport Cedar and Mainport Pine, will be 54.6 by 13.8-meter supply, seismic support vessels. The third, the Mainport Kells, will be somewhat smaller at 37 by 8.7-meter, and will also carry the designation supply, seismic support vessel.

New Navy Contract

Integrated Marine Services, Inc., Chula Vista, Calif., is being awarded a $36,400,000 ceiling indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide ventilation cleaning services to the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center's commercial industrial services code in support of  Navy ships and other government vessels within a 50-mile radius of San Diego, Calif. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by July 2014. Contract funds in the amount of $3,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured as a HUBZone set-aside via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with five offers received. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity (N55236-09-D-0018).
