Korean Registry Okays Transas ECDIS

Transas, one of the world's leading providers of integrated navigation solutions, received ECDIS type-approval from the Korean Registry (Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute), making Transas one of a few companies holding an ECDIS certificate from the South Korean maritime authority. The certificate issued by the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute proves the system's compliance with all ECDIS-related regulations valid for the South Korean Flag state and covers not only Navi-Sailor ECDIS in Premium and Standard configurations, but also all Transas supplementary components for usability benefits and system integration. All tests were successfully passed within one week at the certified Transas R&D facilities.

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. has chosen Kongsberg Maritime to supply an extensive offshore and navigation simulator package for a brand new training center. With a sophisticated integrated simulator suite, enabling specific operations and vessel team training, Ocean Rig’s new facility, is shaping up to become one of the world’s most advanced offshore training centers, Kongsberg Maritime said. Ocean Rig owns and operates two ultra-deepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs and nine ultra-deepwater drillships (including three newbuilds for delivery 2014-2016).

The Wärtsilä 3C Integrate All Ship Controls

Wärtsilä launched its Wärtsilä Communication and Control Centre (Wärtsilä 3C) solution at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg, Germany on 7 September. Wärtsilä 3C is the first system to integrate the entire vessel's control into one solution, the company said. With the introduction of Wärtsilä 3C, Wärtsilä's expertise in integrating its own products and systems, such as automation, propulsion and engines, with other operationally relevant equipment and systems to obtain a truly fully integrated solution, isn highlighted.

Northrop Grumman Introduces Chart Radar

Northrop Grumman Corporation announced the introduction of a new generation of commercial navigation radars incorporating electronic charts.
