L3 Harris Tapped to Deliver USV for Offshore Oil Spill Response

An unidentified "leading integrated oil and gas company" recently took delivery of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) from  L3Harris Technologies, a USV designed to help out during oil spill response operations.C-Tug 3 is an 11-ft. USV  outfitted with L3Harris' ASView control system,a system designed to enable USV remote operations from a land-based control station. C-Tug 3 is designed to execute pre-programmed mission plans and real-time teleoperation via a remote touch screen unit. Once deployed, the USV can tow an oil containment boom into position to prevent the spread of any contaminants.

Petronav Carriers Charters MR Tanker

Petronas Inks 12-yr Contract with K-Line

Malaysian national oil company Petronas’ subsidiary Petronas LNG Ltd recently signed a 12-year time charter party (TCP)  with a Japanese shipowner Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd (“K” Line) for two midsized new build LNG vessels.According to the statement, the TCP includes an extension option for an additional 12 years. The LNG vessels had about 79,960 cubic metres each in capacity.Petronas said this was in line with the signing of the shipbuilding agreements between ‘K’ Line and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co Ltd for the construction of the vessels in Shanghai, China.Petronas executive vice president and CEO of gas and new energy, Adnan Zainal Abidin said the procurement and chartering of these vessels were concluded within four months…

K Line Orders LNGC with Hudong-Zhonghua

Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has ordered two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers with  with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding backed by long-term contracts with Malaysia's energy giant Petronas.The 12-year contract to charter them to Petronas starts in 2022, with an option for an extension for a further 12 years.The two vessels will be built by Hudong–Zhonghua Shipbuilding , a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the largest shipbuilding group in China,  for delivery in the second quarter of 2022, K Line said.These two vessels will be equipped with X-DF engine, which is dual-fuel engine which uses gas admitted at low pressure.Since the delivery of S.S.

SAExploration Wins $130Mln of New Projects

Houston-based  global seismic services company SAExploration announced a combined $130 million of new projects in Alaska, Canada and the Middle East.According to the geophysical services provider the largest contract is valued at approximately $112 million for onshore data acquisition services to be performed on the North Slope of Alaska.The data acquisition services will be conducted over the next three winter seasons, beginning in Q1 2020.In association with this multi-year project award, SAE has entered into a separate agreement with Geospace Technologies Corporation to purchase 30,000 new state-of-the-art GCL recording channels.The new Geospace channels will primarily be utilized during the aforementioned multi-year contract in Alaska…

Gazprom Oil Touch 100mln Barrels at Badra

Russian oil producer Gazprom Neft said that its subsidiary Gazpromneft-Badra has now produced 13.5 million tonnes — or 100 million barrels — of oil in Iraqi oil field.Cumulative production at the Badra field in the five years since this asset went into commercial operation has reached 100 million barrels — the first shipment of liquid hydrocarbons having taken place in 2014. Total, IFPEN Join Forces to Cut Carbon

The French Institute of Petroleum IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPEN) and compatriot multinational integrated oil and gas company Total announced that they signed a strategic R&D partnership yesterday, that includes an agreement to endow a chair at the IFP School, on carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) and technologies to curb CO2 emissions.According to a press note from the energy giant, the roughly EUR40 million partnership covers a period of five years.CCUS aims to reduce the cost of infrastructure and improve the CCUS chain’s energy efficiency to secure its large-scale deployment. Partnership for Vietnam LNG-to-Power Project

Austria's OMV, Russia's Gazprom Sign Pact

Austrian integrated oil and gas company OMV and Russian energy giant Gazprom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).The two companies had previously agreed that Gazprom will supply 1.2 billion cubic meters of LNG to OMV in 2020.On this basis, both partners have now agreed to continue the cooperation beyond the year 2020, including the sale and purchase of conventional and small-scale LNG cargo.In addition, both companies intend to explore options for the joint development of small-scale LNG infrastructure projects.“We have been receiving reliable gas supplies from Russia for more than 50 years. Sapura Bags Five Contracts

Malaysian integrated oil and gas services company Sapura Energy Berhad has been awarded five new contracts valued at approximately RM1.3 billion ($US311 million).All five contracts have been awarded to the Sapura’s wholly owned subsidiaries, with works to take place in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and the Gulf of Suez."The contract wins demonstrate Sapura Energy’s continued pursuit to deepen its presence in existing core markets, break into new markets and expand its scope of services," said a press release.The growing orderbook is expected to increase asset utilisation for the Group and contribute to improving its financial performance.

Teekay LNG Partners Bags New 3-Year Charter

Total Buys 25% Stake in Ecoslops

French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total S.A. has signed an agreement with Ecoslops S.A. that gives the oil major a 25% interest in its affiliate Ecoslops Provence.Ecoslops Provence is building a unit to regenerate oil residues at Total’s La Mède complex. GasLog: LNG Demand Grew 9% in 2018

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is expected to have increased by 9%, from 288 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in 2017 to 313 mtpa in 2018, said GasLog.The Monaco-based owner, operator and manager of LNG carriers said in a stock exchange announcement that China’s LNG imports increased by approximately 16 mtpa, or 41%, to 54 mtpa in 2018, driven mainly by continued coal-to-gas switching in the industrial, commercial and residential sectors.South Korea, Pakistan, Thailand and Mexico also experienced strong growth in LNG imports during 2018. MOL, Total Make Refueling Europe Easier

Japanese logistics giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total S.A. signed an agreement which will make travelling across Europe easier for their corporate customers.The agreement provides for acceptance of MOL Group Cards by Total in its network of stations in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Germany. At the same time, the Total fuel cards will be accepted in the MOL’s and Slovnaft’s network of stations in Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia.As a first step, starting from February 2019, Total fuel cards are accepted in MOL’s network in Hungary and Romania. OMV, Sapura Energy Sign Pact

Offshore Cape Three Points Begins Gas Delivery to Ghana

Vitol said that the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) integrated oil and gas project offshore Ghana has commenced delivery of gas from the Sankofa field to Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).Both Vitol and GNPC are partners in the OCTP project alongside operator Eni. The offshore project is expected to provide stable supplies of cost effective and environmentally friendly, domestic fuel for the Ghanaian power sector, said Vitol.The estimated net cost of gas to Ghana will be less than $4.5/MMBtu, greatly reducing Ghana’s fuel costs compared to liquid fuels or imported gas.The project will provide approximately 180 MMscf/d for at least 15 years, sufficient to supply half of Ghana’s power generation requirements.

Kirby Closes Acquisition of Higman Marine

Kirby Corporation has announced the completion of the acquisition of Higman Marine, Inc. and its affiliated companies (“Higman”), an operator of tank barges and towboats participating in the inland tank barge transportation industry in the United States. The total value of the transaction was approximately $419 million in cash before post-closing adjustments and transaction fees. issuance of senior notes, which closed on February 12, 2018. Kirby To Buy Higman Marine

Kirby Corporation announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Higman Marine, Inc. and its affiliated companies (“Higman”), for approximately $419 million in cash, subject to certain closing adjustments. The purchase will be financed through additional borrowings. Higman’s marine transportation fleet consists of 159 inland tank barges with 4.8 million barrels of capacity, and 75 inland towboats. Higman’s fleet moves petrochemicals, refined petroleum products, crude oil, natural gas condensate, and black oil on the Mississippi River System and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway for large midstream and global integrated oil companies. The closing of the acquisition is expected to occur in the first quarter and is subject to customary closing conditions.

Total Joins SEA\LNG Coalition

Total, the world’s fourth-ranked international oil and gas company, has joined SEA\LNG, a multi-sector industry coalition created to accelerate the widespread adoption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel. Total is a global gas player, involved across the entire LNG chain, from extracting natural gas onshore and offshore to processing plants where it is liquefied, stored and shipped in a fleet of specially designed carriers to regasification terminals for delivery to business customers. In 2015, the Group’s LNG production was of 10.2 million tons. Total’s objective is to double its liquefaction capacity to around 20 Mt/y and increase its LNG trading portfolio to 15 Mt/y by 2020.

Essar's Terminal at Kandla Port crosses 100 mi tonne throughput

The marine terminal of Vadinar Oil Terminal Ltd (VOTL), which is part of Essar Ports Ltd, has been the best performing terminal in the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) for two consecutive years. The terminal recently received a certificate of appreciation from KPT, which crossed 100 million tonnes of cargo throughput for the first time in FY 2015-16. VOTL is an integrated oil terminal located in Vadinar, Gujarat with 58 million tonnes capacity and handles crude oil and petroleum products. The facilities consist of an offshore SPM (Single Point Mooring), two jetties, 3.12 Million KL tankages for storage, and rail and road gantries for dispatch of petroleum products.
