China Shippers' Summit, September 2013, Invites Speakers

The call for Mandarin and English submissions to present talks for the Intermodal China 2013 - Shippers' Summit is now open until July 12, 2013. Organized by UBM China, Intermodal China - Shippers' Summit will be held at Sheraton Hongkou Hotel, Shanghai, China from September 24 to 25, 2013. Submissions will be accepted until July 12 for papers on Intermodal Transport Solutions, Trends & Developments in Logistics, Trade Environment & Transport Regulations in International Market (South America, Russia, Central Asia, Europe and U.S.). The conference will be delivered in the forms of keynote speech, panel discussion, case study and summit dialogue.

North European Containerport Markets to 2025

The North European container port market bounced back strongly from the economic downturn. Total demand reached 57.9m TEU in 2011, representing an increase of 22 per cent since 2009. The eastern Baltic is seeing particularly strong growth. Transshipment demand is increasing. Inland transport costs are increasing rapidly and this – together with increasing environmental pressures – is highlighting the need for intermodal transport solutions. Much larger vessels have entered the Europe-Far East trades, and more are. The container shipping market is in crisis, with severe overcapacity resulting in lines recording huge losses. The position of the lines as customers and as users of North European container terminals is generating considerable uncertainty.

New Intermodal Service by Brazil's Maestra Corp

Real Fernando, president of ship and logistics company Maestra, has drawn attention to his company's regionalization of freight operations in Brazil, so that teams at the port terminals are able to meet the demands of the country's regions locally. The new model, permits greater proximity to customers in each region and increases decision-making flexibility. "We want to be closer to our partners, meet their needs on site and offer more flexible solutions, optimizing the operation, giving more autonomy to our teams and more peace of mind to customers," he says.
