Danelec Acquires MacGregor VDR Business

Danelec, a leader in the production of electronic equipment for the maritime industry, consolidates its market position in the Voyage Data Recorders sector with the acquisition of MacGregor's business in this field. With this investment, Danelec enhances its installed base to a total of 16,000. With the acquisition of MacGregor's Voyage Data Recorder business (VDR) including the Maritime Data Engine (MDE) Software, Danish Danelec further establishes itself as a global leader in the market for VDRs in the maritime industry.MacGregor is owned by Finnish Cargotec.

Cargotec Begins Interschalt Restructuring

Cargotec is to begin restructuring at maritime software provider Interschalt, following its acquisition of the company earlier this year. The re-organisation is estimated to affect Interschalt personnel in Germany, USA (Houston) and China (Shanghai). It is estimated that some Interschalt's production and design work will be discontinued or outsourced and some Interschalt locations will be closed. Cooperation negotiations have started at Interschalt and they will affect tens of employees. Interschalt employs at the moment 223 persons. Some employees will be offered a transfer to another location within Kalmar or MacGregor. The aim is to finalize negotiations by the end of 2016 and the resulting changes will be completed during 2017.

Hoppe Marine to Present Smart Shipping Solutions

For decades, Hamburg-based Hoppe Marine has produced onboard measuring and control systems. At SMM 2016 the internationally-positioned family-run company will be present itself as a data integrator on vessels as a precondition for Smart Shipping and Big Data. “Approximately one of every eight new ships built in the world is already equipped with at least one of our systems,” said Marc Rohde, Managing Director and proprietor of Hoppe Marine GmbH, describing the development of the company since being founded in 1949.

INTERSCHALT Expands South American Network

INTERSCHALT maritime systems GmbH, a provider of services for communications, navigation and bridge equipment and the maker of voyage data recorder systems, has expanded its service network in South America through the addition of ITEC Electronica Maritima S.A.S, Colombia, and Telnav Telecomunicacoes Navais, Macaé, Brazil. As authorized service partners, ITEC and Telnav Telecom will from now on perform the installation, commissioning, retrofitting and maintenance of INTERSCHALT VDR systems as well as conduct annual VDR performance tests (APT) in accordance with IMO regulations.

INTERSCHALT Shuffles Executive Management

INTERSCHALT maritime systems GmbH, a provider of maritime software for cargo operations and fleet management, NavCom services and manufacturer of VDR systems, announced a change in the company’s executive management today. This follows Cargotec Corporation’s acquisition of INTERSCHALT in January 2016. Robert Gärtner, who has served as CEO of INTERSCHALT since 2006, stepped down from his position on June 20 to pursue other opportunities. Two managing directors have now been appointed: Benoit de la Tour, President of Navis, and Rainer Twisterling, former Vice President Services at INTERSCHALT. In his additional role at INTERSCHALT, de la Tour will lead the integration of the company’s software business into Navis, part of Cargotec.

Cargotec Logs Higher Profits

* Orders received decreased 4 percent and totalled EUR 903 (939) million. * Order book amounted to EUR 2,095 (31 Dec 2015: 2,064) million at the end of the period. * Sales declined 7 percent and totalled EUR 828 (889) million. * Operating profit excluding restructuring costs increased 12 percent and was EUR 58.5 (52.3) million, representing 7.1 (5.9) percent of sales. * Operating profit was EUR 57.7 (51.3) million, representing 7.0 (5.8) percent of sales. * Cash flow from operations before financial items and taxes totalled EUR 90.8 (51.6) million. * Net income for the period amounted to EUR 39.1 (36.4) million. * Earnings per share was EUR 0.61 (0.56). Cargotec's 2016 sales are expected to be at the 2015 level (EUR 3,729 million) or slightly below.

INTERSCHALT, Müller+Blanck Reach Merger Deal

INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, the provider of maritime software for cargo and fleet management, and Müller+Blanck Software GmbH, announce the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding for the acquisition of Müller+Blanck. The parties have not disclosed the acquisition price. Interschalt Expands Network in China

Interschalt  maritime systems AG, a provider of maritime software and services for navigation and communication equipment (NavCom), as well as the manufacturer of the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR 4G[e] and S-VDR), has expanded its Asian service network by designating Seven Seas Electronic Co. Ltd as its preferred service partner in China. Seven Seas Electronic Co. Ltd will be responsible for installing, commissioning, retrofitting and maintaining VDR G4[e], S-VDR, and MER-(s)-VDR systems, and for carrying out the annual VDR performance tests (APT) in line with IMO regulations. INTERSCHALT VDR Earns CCS Certification

INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, the provider of maritime software, services and systems for navigation and communications systems (NavCom) and manufacturer of Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) systems, announced that its new generation VDR G4[e] has been type approved by the China Classification Society (CCS), effective July 1, 2015. By granting the type approval, CCS certifies that the VDR G4[e] complies with the international regulations and performance standards of IMO Resolution MSC.333(90). The VDR G4[e] has also been approved by the German federal authority BSH.

Deutsche Private Equity GmbH (DPE) is set to become the new majority shareholder in INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, the maritime software and services provider for navigation and communications equipment for ships as well as manufacturer of a Voyage Data Recorder, with retroactive effect from December 31, 2014. The shipping company Peter Döhle and Gärtner Consulting GmbH will remain the other shareholders of the company. Robert Gärtner will also continue at the helm of the company in his capacity as CEO together with the current management team.

SDARI Inks Agreement for INTERSCHALT Loading Software

INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, a maritime software and services provider of loading computers on board containerships, signed a cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) in Shanghai for the provision of MACS3 loading software for containerships, bulk carriers and tankers built in Chinese shipyards using SDARI designs. MACS3 provides INTERSCHALT with an approx. 65% market share of the approx. 6,000 container ships currently in existence worldwide.

Holland America Line Retrofits Entire Fleet with VDR

Holland America Line said it will retrofit the VDR system of its entire fleet of 15 ships (which annually offers more than 500 cruises to 415 ports of call in 98 countries) with the INTERSCHALT VDR G4, opening up a wealth of new technical possibilities. StowMan Targets Efficiency, Safety

Efficiency and safety were the key topics at the third MACS3 User Conference. Taking part were 35 representatives of 25 companies, from nine different countries. Of particular interest to them was a highlight: the official premiere of the new StowMan software. StowMan opens up a new dimension in stowage planning, by significantly speeding it up and efficiently optimizing it at the same time. It was developed in cooperation with Professor Rune Møller Jensen of the IT University of Copenhagen. The second highlight was the opening of the Fleet Operation Center (FOC), which serves to increase efficiency and prevent accidents.
