Twin Disc Elects Knutson CFO, Treasurer

The board of directors of Twin Disc, Inc. has elected Jeffrey S. Knutson to the position of chief financial officer and treasurer effective June 22, 2015 in addition to his current roles as vice president of finance, corporate controller and secretary. "Jeff has done a fantastic job since assuming the interim chief financial officer role in February," stated John H. Batten, president and chief executive officer. "Jeff's experience and contributions to Twin Disc since joining the company in 2005 make him uniquely qualified to step into the chief financial officer position. His strong global financial experience and deep understanding of our business and culture are valuable assets to Twin Disc.

Inchcape Shipping Services Appoints Senior VP

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), a leader in  maritime services provider,  announced the appointment of Malcolm Tulip as Senior Vice President for Global Operational Excellence. Royal P&O Nedlloyd Appoints CFO

Following the completion on April 16 of the listing of Royal P&O Nedlloyd on the Euronext stock market in Amsterdam, the company nominated David Robbie (40) as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Royal P&O Nedlloyd. It will be proposed that the AGM will appoint Mr Robbie on May 6, with his appointment taking effect from May 10. Robbie was CFO of CMG plc until January 2003, where he was instrumental in delivering the merger of Logica and CMG. Before this, he was at Invensys plc (and formerly BTR plc), where he was Vice President, Corporate Finance. "I am pleased to be joining Royal P&O Nedlloyd at such an interesting point following its successful listing on 16 April. Robbie qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and is a graduate of St Andrews University.

CP Ships Strengthens Financial Management

CP Ships Limited announced a strengthened financial management structure, including new senior positions. David Auger joined CP Ships as Group Financial Controller. He previously held senior group finance positions in the UK with ICI and Invensys and also worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers. A new position, VP Business Control, has been assumed by David Nicklin, who has held a number of senior financial management positions at CP Ships. maintenance of the new SAP financial accounting processes. He will also lead the senior level task force established to review and strengthen financial controls and related business processes. Both Auger and Nicklin report to Ian Webber as does Iain Torrens, who continues to be responsible for treasury and tax functions.

BP and Invensys Tackle Bunker Fuel Problem

The majority of bunker fuel is delivered to ships by barge. Trapped air, held in suspension within viscous bunker oil, artificially increases its volume. This effect has been a major and hitherto unsolvable problem for the shipping industry. The measurement of the supplied quantity currently involves dipping barge tanks before and after delivery and undertaking various calculations and corrections to convert the tank volume measurement into a delivered mass. This process is fraught with difficulties, errors and personnel hazards. BP, recognizing all these problems, has embarked upon an ambitious project to utilize best available and economically viable technology to overcome the traditional quantity verification methods.

Invensys Introduces New CTS System for LNG Carriers

Invensys Process Systems announced that its next-generation Foxboro custody transfer system (CTS) for LNG carriers has been certified by NKKK (Nippon Kaiji Kentei Kyokai) of Japan. The Foxboro Custody Transfer System Reference V for LNG carriers is based on a new non-contact pulsed laser technology that is designed to combine the accuracy of traditional capacitive-based systems with the lower total cost of ownership of non-intrusive radar-based level measurement systems. The system is also designed to provide the high accuracy measurements and data logging of levels, temperatures, and pressures required for the calculation of total LNG cargo loaded or discharged. The data is then converted to volumetric measurement.
