Iridium Communications Inc. Vizada has launched a range of maritime broadband packages integrating Ku-band VSAT and mobile satellite services (MSS), including the newly-launched Vizada XChangeTM. Shipping companies can select the combination of VSAT, MSS hardware and airtime best suited to their needs while being able to upgrade to a higher bandwidth plan or next generation satellite service during or after contract termination. Globe Wireless announced that it has concluded a testing program for the new Iridium OpenPort maritime satcom system and is delivering units to customers. As the Charter Distribution partner for the Iridium OpenPort service, Globe conducted an independent testing of Iridium OpenPort to verify that the product meets the highest degree of reliability. “We have given the Iridium OpenPort system a vigorous shakedown,” said Frank Coles, President and CEO of Globe Wireless.
