BSEE Retains TGS

Norwegean surveying services company TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) has been awarded a five-year contract for Digital Well Log Data Processing with the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), a federal agency tasked with overseeing offshore oil and gas activities.TGS has been providing Digital Well Log Data Processing services to BSEE since 2004, said the provider of multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas Exploration and Production companies worldwide.BSEE requires complete, defect-free sets of processed, high-quality open-hole digital well log data and contracts companies to serve as an agent of BSEE for the processing…

LGH Acquires JDN’s UK Hire Division

Lifting Gear Hire (LGH) has acquired the Aberdeen-based hire division of JD Neuhaus (JDN) Ltd., a manufacturer of hoists and crane systems for extreme environments. JDN, headquartered in Germany, will retain its other U.K. divisions, including sales and repair, and will remain an LGH supplier. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. The acquisition, which comes less than a year after LGH re-launched in the U.K. after a 10-year sabbatical, further enhances the company’s fleet of JDN products, principally air operated hoists.

Routine Turbine Handling in Offshore Conditions

The Gerritsen On- & Offshore Services BV company have handled a routine turbine maintenance procedure being undertaken on an offshore location in the Southern North Sea. This involved four of their personnel, utilizing an air operated hoist unit manufactured by the J D Neuhaus company for the safe and effective lift and maneuver procedures for a turbine lift load of 26,500lbs. The turbine was responsible for supplying power to a gas-compressor utilized for power, steam and other general services.

Fugro Lands Geotechnical Investigation

The planned 18 kilometre-long immersed tunnel will connect Denmark and Germany as part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor, one of the EU’s nine priority network corridors. Detailed knowledge of the subsurface soil properties is key for the proper design and execution of this challenging tunnel construction, for which the world’s largest construction and marine dredging companies are amongst the bidders. Fugro will deploy two jack-up rigs in the Fehmarnbelt seaway between the Danish island of Lolland and Fehmarn on Germany's Baltic coast. In July 2015 Fugro’s highly experienced geotechnical team will perform down-hole CPT (cone penetration testing), drilling and geotechnical laboratory work in water depths between 3 and 10 metres.

J D Neuhaus Turns to 270

September 9, 2015 marks 270 years of manufacturing for the German based hoist and crane manufacturer J D Neuhaus, and after seven generations, the company is still managed by a descendant of the original owner. Load handling equipment supplied by J D Neuhaus is now utilized throughout the world, from small engineering workshops up to large organizations and including some of the heaviest and most demanding handling operations, even under extreme operating conditions. The company's world market status is backed by a service and supply organization established in more than 90 countries together with over 70 branches. Lifting equipment has been the backbone of the manufacturing company, with its first wooden shaft winch being produced in 1745.

Air Hoists Give Tank Cleaning a Lift

More and more companies are turning to air-operated hoists for effective ways to clean storage tanks, manufacturer J D Neuhaus (JDN) reports. Typically, injector heads with nozzles are used to clean inside these inherently dirty vessels by dispensing hot/cold water or steam at high pressures. Hoists Facilitate Offshore Crane Repairs

When the diesel engine of a deck crane failed, it caused major handling problems for an offshore platform operating in the Dutch sector of the southern North Sea, problems that were solved with the use of J D Neuhaus air operated hoists. Rolls-Royce is a ubiquitous and growing force in all matters maritime, inching toward the one-stop-shop premise. Hoists incorporating the latest generation of super silent hydraulics have now been added to the J D Neuhaus range of high performance lifting and handling equipment. In both their Profi and EH monorail hoist ranges, units providing 75 and 100 metric ton lift capacities have been added. Where heavy loads are lifted and transported in highly restricted spaces with only minimum headroom, then a JDN ultra-low monorail hydraulic hoist range has been introduced, initially available with 50 and 100 metric ton lift capacities and designated as JDN UH 50-H and JDN UH 100-H.

J D Neuhaus: Largest Ever Crane System

The largest crane system constructed to date by J D Neuhaus has been delivered to Westcon Lofteteknikk AS (WCL) of Norway for use on an offshore drilling rig. The semi portal design comprises an A-frame supporting twin overhead horizontal track beams providing a 7.5 meter span. The crane has an approximate height of 11.5 meters with a total weight of 32 tons. It is equipped with JDN hydraulic EH 40-H monorail hoists operating on each of the twin beams, each hoist providing an individual lift capacity of 40 tons.

What is believed to be the world’s first air operated hoist with a lift capacity of 125 tons has been manufactured by materials handling and lifting specialists J D Neuhaus. This is the most powerful unit in their EH range of handling equipment.
